In Search of the Right Sound
October 23, 2026 at 05:18 AM
Added Nakatani's musician route, accordion exchange and completion reward
In Search of the Right Sound is Nakatani's request to finish a piece of sheet music. It begins in Huther during the Age of Safekeeping, then visits musicians in each earlier age. The final contribution requires access to Hitoyori, so the quest can remain unfinished for a while after it first becomes available.
Detail | Requirement |
|---|---|
Client | Nakatani, performing on the stage in Huther's tavern |
Unlock | Talk to Fausta after defeating Kaifried. |
Final area required | Hitoyori in the Age of Budding |
Reward | Fortune's Brooch |
Talk to Nakatani on the tavern stage to receive the request. He wants help completing his music while Elliot travels. Keep returning to him after each contribution rather than moving directly from one musician to the next.
Step | Where to go | What to do |
|---|---|---|
1 | Littlehope Village, Age of Reconstruction | Speak to the Cellist in the pub, then return to Nakatani for feedback. |
2 | Weyzn, Age of Magic | Talk to the two informants on the south side of town to locate the next musician. |
3 | Northern Westersea, Age of Magic | Use the Northern Westersea guidepost and cross the bridge to the Clarinetist. After the contribution, return to Nakatani again. |
4 | Hitoyori, Age of Budding | Find the Dispirited Man beneath the pink tree on the southern side of the village. He cannot help until he has an accordion. |
5 | Huther, Age of Safekeeping | Ask Nakatani about the missing accordion. He supplies the instrument kept in his family. |
6 | Hitoyori, Age of Budding | Give that accordion to the Dispirited Man and receive the final update to the sheet music. |
7 | Huther, Age of Safekeeping | Return to Nakatani to finish the quest and collect the brooch. |
Reaching the Dispirited Man's step before the Age of Budding opens is a story gate. Continue the main journey until Hitoyori is accessible, then return to the music quest. The earlier musicians are not substitutes for his contribution.
The final conversation offers a choice of responses about the completed piece. There is no single required answer for receiving the completion reward, so choose the response preferred for the scene. See Side Quests for the other requests and The Four Ages for the order in which the eras become available.
