Faie's Fairy Magic
October 23, 2026 at 11:21 PM
Clarified power targeting, gauge wording and the Sprint shrine trial
Faie, the fairy companion who travels with Elliot throughout the game, can learn five distinct magic abilities by finding Shrines of the Mystic scattered across Philabieldia and its four ages. Each ability has both a combat application and a role in exploration and puzzle-solving, making Faie a versatile presence in and out of battle. Magic consumption limits repeated use of her abilities.
Faie's Magic Lessons become available after learning Ignite, completing its Shrine of the Mystic trial and leaving the shrine. The scored lessons use Faie's learned powers and can award music records once the relevant unlock conditions are met. See Music Tracks and Unlocks for the complete in-game track list and the special revival condition.
The shrine locations below are grouped by era.
Power | Age | Region | Approach |
|---|---|---|---|
Sprint | Age of Safekeeping | Westerea | Northeast of Rainbow Lotus. Return after the first trip to the Age of Reconstruction and use the Heavy Hammer to clear the wooden stakes. |
Ignite | Age of Reconstruction | Westerea | Near the Open Plateau guidepost. |
Warp | Age of Reconstruction | Neverwither | Northeast of the Neverwither guidepost. |
Vacuum | Age of Magic | Garretbelt | On the southwestern ledge. |
Copy | Age of Budding | Whiterea | Northeast of Whiterea, beside the Dragonpillar - Approach guidepost. Visit Hitoyori for the first time before seeking this shrine. |
For the 24 Shard of Life challenge routes, see Shrines of Life.
The table below lists all five confirmed abilities with their uses in combat and in exploration or puzzles.
Ability | Combat Use | Exploration and Puzzle Use |
|---|---|---|
Sprint | Increases Elliot's movement speed, useful for repositioning or closing distance on enemies. Have at least a quarter gauge available to activate it. | Faster overworld traversal; Faie's Magic Lessons minigame involves racing downhill to outrun an avalanche. |
Warp | Instantly teleports Elliot to Faie's current position, consuming magic. Useful for escaping a surrounded position or repositioning quickly. | Crosses gaps, pits, and moving platforms; the Faie's Magic Lessons minigame for Warp takes place in a lava environment with platform traversal. |
Ignite | Deals fire damage to enemies; can detonate enemy bombs before they reach Elliot; effective against specific enemy types. The Enhanced Ignite upgrade from its Mausoleum of the Mystic releases a final gust as the flames fade. | Lights torches, melts ice blocks, triggers explosives, and burns obstructing grass. |
Vacuum | Pulls surrounding enemies inward; captured enemies can be attacked immediately or pulled off platforms into pits. It can also break pots and barrels for area damage and loot. | Draws in objects and dropped loot. Move Faie beside a red orb with Vacuum active to pick it up, then carry it to a floor switch. If the charge runs out, the orb drops; recharge and pick it up again. |
Copy | Faie transforms into a duplicate of Elliot that mirrors his movements; duplicates thrown weapons. Using Extra Throw Magicite on the Boomerang combined with Copy produces four simultaneous boomerangs. | Use Faie's movement controls to position her copy beside a separated switch, then mirror Elliot's action to activate both switches together. Copy also mirrors attacks, including Bombs. |
Dash through the first chamber.
Wait for the arrows to pass in the second chamber, then Sprint through.
In the final chamber, activate the pressure plate and Sprint back up the stairs and around the corners before the timed door closes.
Watch the magic gauge when using Faie's abilities and allow it to recover between activations. Fairy Springs replenish the meter and briefly allow magic without consumption. This cooldown structure means planning which ability to use, and when, is part of both combat and puzzle management.
After repairing the Moonmirror in the Age of Magic, obtain the Magic Needle from Fausta to locate Fairy Springs. A spring may be active in one age and dry in another. Stand in an active spring to replenish Faie's magic and briefly use her powers without consuming it.
Interact with a spring while carrying an empty glass vial to bottle Crystallized Magic. Bottling has a short cooldown. Use the item from the inventory or a shortcut to allow Faie's abilities to work without consuming magic for a period.
Beyond the five learned magic abilities, Faie performs several roles by default throughout the game. She picks up items and currency dropped by defeated enemies, freeing Elliot from having to collect them manually. She can also attack enemies independently. Most significantly, Faie revives Elliot when he falls in battle, spending tul currency on his behalf. Easy uses a low, fixed revival cost. Normal and Hard costs increase with successive deaths and reset at guideposts. Very Hard costs increase after each death without resetting. See Combat System for full details on the revival system.
In local two-player co-op, a second player takes direct control of Faie. The Warp ability is particularly central in co-op, as the second player can position Faie to set up teleportation points across the map.
Select Warp, move Faie onto a valid walkable destination and activate the power to bring Elliot to her position. Warp unlocks in the Age of Reconstruction; the Prologue Demo does not make it available.
