Added Dev Vlog #5 mention and context within vehicle lineup
The Dive Elevator is a platform-type vehicle in Subnautica 2. Unlike personal submersibles like the Tadpole, it's a vertical transport for descending to deep ocean zones and hauling resources back to the surface. It was mentioned in Dev Vlog #5 alongside the multiplayer mechanics reveal.
The Dive Elevator works as a ride-on platform that players stand on while it lowers them into the depths. This makes it practical for transporting large quantities of resources that wouldn't fit in a personal submersible's storage. On the return trip, players load their gathered materials onto the platform and ride it back up.
The Dive Elevator is described as "convenient and social," specifically designed with co-op play in mind. Multiple players can ride the same elevator, making it a natural gathering point for group expeditions. In a game where depth progression determines difficulty, having a reliable vertical transport for the whole team changes how groups approach resource runs.
The Dive Elevator fills a role that didn't exist in previous Subnautica games. The original had the Seamoth for personal transport and the Cyclops as a mobile base. Below Zero used the modular Seatruck. Subnautica 2's vehicle design splits functions differently: the Tadpole handles exploration, the Wakemaker provides personal speed boosts, and the Dive Elevator handles bulk vertical logistics.
