Overview
Scratch Cards are a lottery-style minigame available at the Chrono Arcade in Starsand Town. Players purchase scratch cards from lottery machines using Tokens (the arcade's internal currency) and scratch them to reveal prizes. There are two types: a cheaper single-panel card and a more expensive multi-panel card with better odds.
The arcade is run by Loren, who gives you 20 free Tokens daily and exchanges Gold for additional Tokens at the cash register. Scratch Cards are one of several activities at the Chrono Arcade alongside the Starblock and Foodybara arcade games and Gachapon machines.

How Scratch Cards work
Scratch Card machines are located outside and in the lower section of the Chrono Arcade. Walk up to a machine and interact with it to purchase a card using Tokens. Two types are available:
Type | Cost | Gold equivalent | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Single-panel | 5 Tokens | 50 Gold | One panel to scratch. Lower winning odds. |
Multi-panel | 10 Tokens | 100 Gold | Multiple panels to scratch. Better winning odds. |
Winning cards award Chronos Tokens, which can be spent on Gachapon machines or used to play more scratch cards.
Token system
Collect free tokens: Visit the Chrono Arcade cash register daily for 20 free Tokens.
Buy additional tokens: Exchange Gold for Tokens at the register. Up to 80 purchasable Tokens per day (800 Gold total). The exchange rate is 10 Gold per Token.
Spend tokens: Use Tokens on Scratch Cards, Gachapon machines, and arcade games.
Win tokens back: Winning scratch cards award Tokens, recycling your investment into more attempts.
With a daily cap of 100 Tokens, you can buy a maximum of 20 single-panel cards (5 Tokens each) or 10 multi-panel cards (10 Tokens each) per day.
Arcade games
The Chrono Arcade features two classic-style arcade games in addition to Scratch Cards. Both games award Tokens on completion, with better rewards for higher cumulative scores and personal bests.
Game | Type | How to play |
|---|---|---|
Starblock | Tetris-style puzzle | Rotate and fit falling blocks to create complete lines. Game ends when blocks reach the top. |
Foodybara | Snake-style game | Control a capybara eating items while avoiding walls and self-collision. Grows longer as you eat. |
Arcade game rewards come in two categories: Cumulative (points accumulate across multiple sessions) and Personal Best (requires beating your own high score). Players win Tokens every time they play, with better rewards for increasing totals.
Gachapon machines
Gachapon machines cost 20 Tokens per pull. They dispense random rewards including resources (Tin, Copper, Stone), crafting recipes (e.g., Wok Spatula), furniture, wardrobe items, and blueprints.
The machines come in different colours (Golden, Purple, Blue, Green, White), but the colour does not affect reward rarity — outcomes are completely random regardless of which machine you use.
Scratch Master buff
The Star Canelight food item grants a 2-minute Scratch Master buff that improves Scratch Card odds. The buff adds 1 lucky number to scratch cards, boosts win rates, makes earning Tokens easier, and gives a chance for a full refund on payouts. The recipe is available for purchase at the Aureleaf Kitchen.
The Scratch Master buff does not stack. Eating a second Star Canelight resets the 2-minute timer but does not double the effect. Eat one right before scratching for maximum coverage.
Starsand Scratch Card item
In addition to the arcade machine scratch cards, there is a separate Starsand Scratch Card inventory item — a consumable that can be obtained from events, gifts, or promotions. This item functions similarly to the machine-based cards but is used directly from your inventory.
Exploit fix (Patch 0.2.1185): An early bug allowed the Starsand Scratch Card item to be used infinitely under certain circumstances, letting players repeatedly claim prizes from a single card. This was fixed in Patch 0.2.1185 (February 2026). The card now correctly consumes on use.
Loren
Loren is the manager of the Chrono Arcade and one of the 15 romanceable characters in Starsand Island. He is found at the arcade roughly 90% of the time, either playing games on the main floor or the lower floor. He is developing his own video game.
Gift type | Items | Affection |
|---|---|---|
Loved gifts | Coconut Latte, Lunar Crystal | +15 |
Liked gifts | Caco Laco, Grilled Fish, Moonflower, Plain Noodles, Purple Hydrangea, Sweet and Sour Pork, Veggie Noodles | +10 |
Disliked gifts | Blue Sleep Lily, Yellow Sleep Lily | Negative |
Tips
Collect your 20 free daily Tokens. Visit the Chrono Arcade register every day even if you do not plan to play immediately. Tokens accumulate.
Multi-panel cards are better value. They cost 2x as much but have meaningfully better odds. If you are going to scratch, go multi-panel.
Eat a Star Canelight before scratching. The 2-minute Scratch Master buff improves win rates. Buy the recipe from Aureleaf Kitchen.
Scratch Cards are not a money-making strategy. Farming, cooking, and the Merchant Ship (200% sell prices) are far better income sources. Treat scratch cards as entertainment.
Spend surplus Tokens on Gachapons. Gachapon machines (20 Tokens each) have a chance to drop rare items including Ancient Precision Parts, exclusive furniture, and the Wok Spatula recipe — often more valuable than Scratch Card prizes.
Play the arcade games too. Starblock and Foodybara award Tokens on every play, with bonus rewards for cumulative score milestones and personal bests. They are a fun way to earn extra Tokens.
Loren's favourite gifts: Coconut Latte and Lunar Crystal. Building Affection with Loren through gifts is separate from the arcade economy.
