Overview

Alaska Blackfish is a cold-water fish species found in Starsand Island's lake zones during winter. This hardy fish is well adapted to frigid temperatures and can survive in conditions that would be hostile to most other species. In the game, it appears exclusively on sunny winter days in lake zones, giving winter anglers a reliable target on clear days when other fish may not be biting. Processing it at the Separator produces Fish Fillet for cooking.

Where to Catch

Any lake fishing spot on the island works for Alaska Blackfish. Cloudrest Lake is a convenient choice, especially if you have unlocked the Cloudrest Lake property and can cast from your own land. The fish only appears during sunny winter weather, so you need clear skies. If snow or rain rolls in, the Alaska Blackfish stops biting, and you should pivot to other winter species like Lake Trout that prefer snowy conditions instead.

Bait and Fishing Tips

Alaska Blackfish respond exclusively to Bug Bait. Craft it in advance at the Chopper station so you are prepared when winter's sunny days arrive.

• Tip: The time window for this fish is one of the widest in the game: 06:00 to 22:00. You can start fishing at dawn and keep going until late evening, which gives you plenty of chances per sunny winter day.

• Tip: Sunny and snowy winter days call for different catches. On sunny days, target Alaska Blackfish and Cleaner Fish. When it snows, switch to Lake Trout.

• Tip: At 88g per fish, Alaska Blackfish are a moderate income source. They are more valuable than Giant River Prawn (50g) but less profitable than premium winter catches.

Uses

• Cooking: Process at the Separator into Fish Fillet. Use in Steamed Fish, Grilled Fish, and other fillet-based recipes.

• Selling: Base sell price of 88g. The Merchant Ship offers a significantly better price when it docks at Starsand Port.

• Gifting: Some NPCs accept raw fish as gifts, though cooked dishes tend to be better received.
