What is Solarpunk
Solarpunk is an open-world survival crafting game developed by Cyberwave and published by rokaplay. The game is set across a chain of floating islands where players harvest solar energy, build sustainable homes, grow crops, raise animals, and explore by airship. It supports up to four players in online co-op multiplayer. The game's Steam App ID is 1805110.
Solarpunk draws inspiration from several well-known games. The developers have cited Minecraft (building freedom), Raft (survival on structures surrounded by open space), Astroneer (energy cables and modular power), and Stardew Valley (farming loops) as design influences. The result is a game that combines base-building, farming, crafting, automation, and exploration in a colorful, optimistic setting.
Platforms and release
Solarpunk is planned for release on Steam, Epic Games Store (listed as "Coming Soon"), Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. There are currently no plans for Mac, Linux, mobile, or GOG versions. Cross-play between platforms is not currently planned.
The developers decided to skip Early Access entirely and release Solarpunk directly as a version 1.0 product. The game has accumulated over 900,000 Steam wishlists as of early 2026, up from roughly 400,000 at the time of the Kickstarter campaign.

Kickstarter campaign
Solarpunk ran a Kickstarter campaign with a funding goal of 30,000 EUR. The campaign finished with 305,266 EUR raised from 6,312 backers, exceeding the goal by more than ten times. This made Solarpunk the most successful Kickstarter game from North Rhine-Westphalia and the fourth most successful Kickstarter game from Germany overall.
Several stretch goals were unlocked during the campaign:
Additional housing decorations
Character editor
More plant types
Recycling system, including a Recycler machine and Recycling Points redeemable for cosmetics
Expanded building materials: brick and glass (in addition to the default wood)
The final stretch goal was not reached before the campaign ended.
Playtests and development timeline
On November 13, 2025, the developers announced a delay to the game's release. The updated timeline introduced two testing phases:
Single-player alpha playtest (September 2025): Available to Kickstarter backers at the 70 EUR tier and above. This build included the character editor, controller support, an overhauled animal care system, and new music.
Multiplayer closed beta (January 28, 2026): A larger-scale test focused on the multiplayer experience, network stability, and co-op gameplay.
Feedback from playtests
Community feedback from the alpha and demo sessions highlighted several areas the team has been working on:
Cotton growth speed was considered too slow by most testers
Wooden tools break too quickly, leading to frequent re-crafting
Inventory quality-of-life improvements were widely requested
Airship steering sensitivity needed adjustment
FPS drops during thunderstorms, especially on lower-end hardware
Animal pathfinding bugs where creatures would get stuck on terrain
Tutorial clarity could be improved for new players
Requests for more late-game content and progression goals
Core gameplay systems
Solarpunk's gameplay revolves around interconnected systems:
