What is Solarpunk
Solarpunk is a cozy, peaceful survival, building, and automation game developed by Cyberwave and published by rokaplay. It is set across a chain of floating islands where players harvest renewable energy, build sustainable homes, grow crops, care for animals, and explore by airship. There is no combat. It supports up to four players in online co-op multiplayer and is also fully playable solo. The game's Steam App ID is 1805110.

Solarpunk combines base-building, farming, crafting, automation, and exploration in a colorful, optimistic setting. Its power systems use drag-able cables to connect generators and machines, in the style of base-building automation games. Ahead of launch, Solarpunk passed nearly 1.2 million Steam wishlists, and it released on June 8, 2026.
Release and Platforms
Solarpunk released as a full version 1.0 product on June 8, 2026, on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, with Xbox Game Pass at launch, priced at $22.99 USD. The console versions are handled by Mi'pu'mi Games. The game skips Early Access and ships complete on day one. Cross-play between platforms was not available at launch, though the developers have since named cross-platform play as a feature in development. See the release date article for full platform details.
Kickstarter Campaign

Solarpunk ran a Kickstarter campaign in 2023 with a funding goal of 30,000 EUR. It finished with 305,266 EUR raised from 6,312 backers, around ten times the goal. Stretch goals unlocked during the campaign included additional housing decorations, a character editor, more plant types, a recycling system, and an expanded building system.
Core Gameplay Systems
Solarpunk's gameplay revolves around interconnected systems:
System | Description |
|---|---|
Generate power from sun, wind, and water; store it in batteries and distribute it by cable or wireless power | |
A personal vessel charged by onboard solar panels, used to travel between islands and explore distant biomes | |
Construct homes and structures using wood, brick, and glass | |
Plant and harvest crops; protect them in greenhouses | |
Care for animals with feeding and water stations; pigs dig up truffles | |
Prepare recipes from crops for temporary hunger and thirst bonuses | |
Transport drones automate gathering resources and watering crops | |
Dynamic storms, wind, and a day/night cycle affect gameplay |
See each linked article for full details on individual systems.
Launch and Reception
Solarpunk released on June 8, 2026 across all four launch platforms (PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2) on the same day and is supported in 14 languages on its Steam storefront, including English, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian.
Pre-launch interest was unusually strong for a small-studio cozy survival game: the Steam page passed nearly 1.2 million wishlists before launch, and the free Steam demo has been listed among the most-downloaded entries during Steam Next Fest events leading up to release. See the release date page for the full platform and launch-day detail, the Kickstarter campaign page for the 2023 funding background, and the multiplayer page for how co-op behaves at launch. The system requirements page lists the PC specs needed to run the game.
At launch, Solarpunk drew a broadly positive player reception that grew stronger over its first weeks as the team shipped fixes. Players praised the peaceful tone, the renewable-energy theme, and airship-based exploration, while some noted that the solo experience can feel quiet and that resource gathering grows repetitive over time. The developers have been clear that Solarpunk is a small, focused cozy game rather than a large-scale survival title, with most of the main content explored in around 20 hours before the game shifts to open-ended base-building and decoration.
After release the small development team began posting regular updates, working through bug reports and adjusting early-game balance. The first post-launch update arrived within days on PC, with console builds following after platform certification. See Updates and Patches for details.
