Created page for the Vita et Mors boss encounter: placement in the Prologue, form, summoning and public showings
Vita et Mors is the boss of Prologue: The Peak and the second boss encounter the game has named publicly, after Cinderella. It is not one opponent but two: a pair of massive humanoid entities that fight the Detectives and each other in the same arena.
Detail | Value |
|---|---|
First appearance | Prologue: The Peak |
Location | Aboard the Evermore |
Form | Two massive humanoid entities |
Trigger | A silver substance seeping into the airship's core |
Behaviour | Attacks the player and its counterpart at the same time |
Public showings | Playable demo builds in July and August 2026; boss highlights in the August 2026 trailer |
The Prologue's objective list places the fight after the Detective has followed the signal to its endpoint and before the closing visit to the grave, which makes it the last thing that happens aboard the ship. It is triggered when a silver substance flows out of an assassin's body and seeps into the ship's core.
Once the pair are on the field the ceremony collapses. The queen is caught by the entities, attendees flee, and some of them are turned on the Detectives, so the encounter runs with adds rather than as a clean duel. The full sequence is on Evermore.
Vita et Mors has been the game's demo boss at public events. Players who took the hands-on build describe a pair of giant statues bickering with each other while trying to crush the player, which matches the in-game behaviour of two entities that attack each other as readily as they attack you.
It was also one of two boss encounters highlighted in the August 2026 trailer, cut in beside the Cinderella fight between exploration and combat footage. The trailer is covered on Development History.
The name and the trailer appearance are official. The two-entity form, the summoning and the placement in the Prologue come from the playable build.
No move list, phase structure or stat block has been published. The general combat rules the fight runs under, including parries, executions and Resonance, are on Combat System.
