Overview
The Evermore is a flying whale airship, and the setting of Prologue: The Peak. What happens aboard it is the event the rest of the story hangs from: the Detective's sibling dies there, the Detective leaves Silvernia for three years, and the case that brings them back runs straight into the same thread.
Official material refers to the event rather than the vessel. The in-world newspaper on the world page leads with the agency's reopening under the line "Outlaw? Or Saviour? The detective who survived the airship incident has returned to Silvernia", and the official character copy for both protagonists states that they disappeared three years ago in an airship crash linked to the Queen's assassination. The ship's name appears in the playable prologue rather than in published material.
The Ceremony
The two sibling Detectives are invited aboard for an awards ceremony held in recognition of their contributions to the city. The mood is celebratory, but Knights on the ship are uneasy: traces of hazardous material have turned up in the Evermore's sewage pipes.
The siblings split up. One attends the ceremony proper and receives a Gravitas reactor from the queen; the other works the area around the venue, following a signal to a reactor rigged to explode, and defuses it. The person delivering the award then lunges at the queen. The sibling holding the newly received reactor blocks the strike, and the guards drag the attacker away with both the assassination attempt and the explosion thwarted.
The Disaster
A silver substance flows out of the attacker's body and seeps into the Evermore's core, which summons Vita et Mors. The queen is caught by the entities. Attendees scatter, and some of them are turned against the Detectives.
The siblings win the fight and the surviving Knights recover the queen, but the ship does not come back under control. In the confusion one sibling is disarmed, and a candle-like humanoid figure uses that weapon to shoot the other. An explosion throws both clear of the Evermore and separates them. Only one walks away.
Aftermath
Consequence | Detail |
|---|---|
The Detective leaves | Three years away from Silvernia, ending only when a letter arrives from Chief Inspector Lorin. |
Public suspicion | Citizens in Act I recognise the returning Detective as the person believed to have killed the late queen. |
The agency closes | The premises of S.T.A.T.S. sit neglected for the three years and are reopened on the Detective's return. |
The thread stays open | The bullet that killed the sibling links the crash to the arson file on The Nameless Ashes Case. |
Silverium's role | The silver substance that seeps into the ship's core is one of the few recorded instances of Silverium acting on a body and a reactor alike. |
Notes
"The airship incident" and the link to the Queen's assassination are official. The vessel's name, the ceremony's details and the sequence of events aboard come from the playable prologue in the closed beta builds.
Queen Feliana is the monarch attested in official copy, and the prologue's own naming has not been published, so the queen at the ceremony is deliberately not named here.
The full scene ladder that follows the Prologue is on Main Story.
