2020 Pickaxe Power follows the same ladder as axes and gates which ore veins are worth mining. Copper and Bronze pickaxes cost one more bar than the equivalent axe, so most players craft the axe first and upgrade mining a tier behind woodcutting.

33+The Autumn Update (0.26.1, released 31 August 2026) added a Farmland removal tool for clearing placed Farm Land, and changed the existing crop removal tool so that it returns the seed of the crop it removes. The patch notes file both under buildings and constructions rather than under items, and both had been trialled on the beta branch over the summer. 3337 Tool damage was rebalanced in patch 0.20.2_2 so that tools deal lower damage against enemies relative to dedicated weapons. The Rusted Axe was given a damage boost in patch 0.20.2_1 so it remains useful as a starter weapon. Bows and Rusted tools both got buffs there.
