Season 1: Dark Night Collecting Light (暗夜拾光) is the first seasonal content update for Roco Kingdom: World. The season runs from March 26 to May 21, 2026, coinciding with the game's launch. It introduces a new legendary Spirit, eight new Spirit families obtainable through the Nightmare Shackles mechanic, a multi-tier Light Collection Pass with two thematic paths, the Season Hall, a cosmetic Season Shop, and 16 season-exclusive shiny variants.
As the inaugural season, Dark Night Collecting Light sets the template for how future seasons will operate. Players earn seasonal currency, complete investigation tasks, and work through 100 pass levels to unlock exclusive rewards that will not be available after the season ends.
Dragon Breath Palthes (龙息帕尔) is the Season 1 featured legendary Spirit and the headline reward of the seasonal content. It is an Evil-type Spirit with a fearsome stat spread designed for physical aggression. Dragon Breath Palthes is available to all players for free by completing Season Assignment Chapter 1, which rewards the Spirit's egg.
Small Parsa (小帕尔) evolves at Level 28 into Parsathus (帕尔萨斯), which then evolves at Level 40 into Dragon Breath Palthes (龙息帕尔). The final evolution has a special release condition: the player must catch 3 Parsathus and release 2 of them to trigger the transformation.
Dragon Breath Palthes boasts a species value of 617, placing it firmly in the legendary tier. Its stat distribution heavily favors physical offense and bulk.
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
HP | 130 |
Physical ATK | 161 |
Special ATK | 29 |
Physical DEF | 131 |
Special DEF | 94 |
Speed | 100 |
Total Species Value | 617 |
With 161 Physical ATK and only 29 Special ATK, Dragon Breath Palthes is a dedicated physical attacker. Its respectable 131 Physical DEF and 130 HP give it solid survivability on the physical side, though its 94 Special DEF leaves it somewhat vulnerable to special attackers. The recommended natures are Adamant (boosting Physical ATK) or Jolly (boosting Speed).
Price Paid to the Devil: Whenever Dragon Breath Palthes defeats an enemy Spirit, the opponent loses 1 additional magic point (MP). This ability puts immense pressure on the opposing team's resource management, forcing them to either conserve MP or risk running out of moves entirely.
Move | Effect |
|---|---|
Ancient Castle Echo | Summons blood moon weather, which enhances Evil-type moves and creates a foreboding battlefield atmosphere. |
Predatory Blood Curse | A high-speed priority move that strikes before most opponents can act. Ideal for finishing weakened targets. |
Fallen Healing | Deals damage while simultaneously recovering a portion of Dragon Breath Palthes's HP. Provides sustain in prolonged fights. |
Silence Desolation | Deals heavy damage and generates a protective shield that absorbs incoming hits. Combines offense with defense in a single turn. |
Nightmare Shackles is the primary mechanic for encountering the new Season 1 Spirits. It is a multi-phase process that rewards dedicated catching streaks and introduces corrupted Spirit battles with unique shield mechanics.
Corrupted Spirits encountered through the Nightmare Shackles system appear with nightmare shields, protective barriers that must be broken before the Spirit can be captured. These shields function as an additional health bar layered on top of the Spirit's normal HP. Players must engage in combat to deplete the shield first, and only after the shield is fully broken can any Gulu Ball be thrown. The corrupted Spirit is visually distinct, surrounded by a dark aura that signals its shielded state.
To trigger a Nightmare Shackles encounter, the player must consecutively capture 20 to 30 or more wild Spirits from the same family or the same attribute (element type). The encounter triggers on a probability basis once the threshold is reached, meaning it may take more than 30 catches in some cases. Each successful capture extends the streak, while switching to a different family or attribute resets it.
Continuous captures during Nightmare Shackles encounters trigger special magical fluctuations that unlock nightmare chains. When a player maintains an unbroken streak of successful corrupted Spirit captures, the system generates escalating magical events that can summon increasingly rare encounters. These nightmare chain events are the gateway to obtaining the 8 new Spirit families introduced in Season 1, as the chained encounters have a higher probability of spawning the season-exclusive species.
When a Nightmare Shield breaks, there is a 1.8% chance that the Spirit will be revealed as a shiny variant. The system includes a pity counter that tracks consecutive non-shiny encounters. At 80 encounters without a shiny, the pity system guarantees the next one will be shiny.
Important: If the player flees from the battle, loses the fight, or runs out of MP during the encounter, the pity counter resets to zero. Committing to every Nightmare Shackles encounter is critical for making progress toward the pity guarantee.
Season 1 introduces eight new Spirit families, all obtainable exclusively through the Nightmare Shackles mechanic and its nightmare chain system. These Spirits and their evolutions can only be encountered during Season 1, making them limited-time additions to a player's collection.
Spirit | Chinese Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
Pink Star Jr. | 粉星仔 | A small creature that sheds star fragments wherever it walks. Evolves into Pink-Eared Star Rabbit. |
Fluffy Pink Star | 粉粉星 | Its body flows with concentrated starlight energy. When it sneezes, it produces a shower of star rain. |
Bethel | 贝瑟 | Carries a hard, heavy shell on its back. Has a 3-stage evolution chain: Bethel, then Begus, then Baikal. |
Crescent Snow Bear | 月牙雪熊 | Distinguished by the star-shaped marking on its forehead, which radiates a gentle warmth. |
Hollow Skull | 空空颅 | A nocturnal Spirit that avoids daylight. Evolves into Night Sleeper, then into Night Owl. |
Dual-Lamp Fish | 双灯鱼 | Uses bioluminescent bacteria to produce light from twin lamps on its body. Evolves into Sharp Lamp Fish. |
Burning Firewood Bug | 燃薪虫 | A fire-type insect so prone to accidental blazes that local authorities have issued warnings about it. Evolves into Emberkind Bug. |
Light-Devouring Buzz | 嗜光嗡嗡 | Possesses an abdominal organ that responds to light energy, drawing it in and storing it. Evolves into Thieving Light Mosquito. |
Season 1 features 16 special shiny variants that are available exclusively during this season. Each of the eight new Spirit families has two forms (base form and final evolution), resulting in 16 season-limited shiny appearances. These shiny variants feature alternate color palettes and subtle visual effects that distinguish them from their standard counterparts.
Shiny variants are obtainable during Season 1 through the Nightmare Shackles mechanic. Once the season ends, these specific shiny appearances will no longer be available in the wild, making them highly sought-after collector's items. Players who want to complete their shiny collection for the season should prioritize Nightmare Shackles farming before the May 21 deadline.
The Light Collection Pass is Season 1's progression track, consisting of 100 levels of rewards split across free and paid tiers. The pass introduces a branching path system where players choose between two thematic tracks that determine their exclusive Spirit reward.
The pass offers two variant paths that players choose between at the start of the season:
Moon Path: Awards Swift Thousand Beast (千骑兽), a Light-type Spirit. This creature excels at speed and mobility, making it a strong pick for players who value fast-paced combat strategies.
Star Path: Awards Fluff Fairy (绒仙子), a Bug-type Spirit. This creature specializes in status effects and support, making it valuable for players who prefer strategic, debuff-heavy team compositions.
The chosen Spirit is awarded at an early pass level and cannot be obtained through any other means during the season. Players should consider their team composition and playstyle when making this choice, as the other path's Spirit will be unavailable until a future rerun (if one occurs).
In addition to the path-exclusive Spirit, the Light Collection Pass unlocks eggs and trainer cosmetics through pass tasks spread across 100 levels. Both paths share most rewards; only the featured Spirit differs.
All players have access to the free tier, which includes nature correction materials, IV (Individual Value) correction items, shiny eggs, and various consumables distributed across the 100 levels. These rewards provide meaningful progression even for free-to-play players.
Two paid upgrade options are available. The Contract Coupon costs 68 RMB and unlocks the standard paid reward track. The Shining Contract Coupon costs 128 RMB and includes additional premium rewards on top of everything in the standard track. Both paid tiers cover a 3-month period.
Key paid rewards include Wish Stars (Season Shop currency), Capture Light Balls, Magic Dust, and Sage Crystals. These materials are essential for perfecting Spirit stats and obtaining premium cosmetics from the Season Shop.
The Season Hall for Season 1 is themed as the Box Research Laboratory (also known as the Box Research Lab). It is managed by the NPC Lumeng, who delegates investigation tasks to the player.
While present in the Season Hall, the lab automatically grants star light value over time. This passive accumulation means that simply spending time in the Season Hall generates progress without any active input from the player. The rate of star light accumulation increases as the player completes more of Lumeng's investigation tasks.
Accumulated star light value enables a key exchange: players can trade Locke Shells for seasonal Light Capture Balls. These are special Gulu Balls available only through the Season Hall exchange, and they provide guaranteed capture on any Spirit. The Season Hall serves as a passive income system that rewards consistent daily play throughout the season.
Season 1 features a multi-chapter mission chain centered around the Box Research Lab and its investigation into the mysterious Dragon Breath Palthes. Players complete researcher tasks assigned by Lumeng across several chapters, with each chapter unlocking new areas to investigate and new lore about the legendary Evil-type Spirit.
The ultimate reward for completing the full seasonal mission chain is a Dragon Breath Palthes egg. This is the primary method for obtaining the season's legendary Spirit for free. The first egg is awarded upon completing Season Assignment Chapter 1, making Dragon Breath Palthes accessible to all players regardless of spending level.
The Season Shop uses Wish Stars as its currency, earned through the Light Collection Pass and various seasonal activities. It offers exclusive cosmetic items and decorations that will not be available after Season 1 ends.
Researcher's Hat: A themed headpiece matching the Box Research Laboratory aesthetic.
Old Suitcase: A vintage travel case with mysterious markings.
Knowledge Bench: A miniature bench adorned with open books and scrolls.
Comfortable Desk: A cozy study desk perfect for any researcher's quarters.
Four new action animations are available, each with two upgrade levels that enhance the animation:
Emote | Description |
|---|---|
Greeting | A friendly wave with seasonal flair; upgrades add sparkle effects |
Realization | An 'aha' moment reaction; upgrades add a lightbulb animation |
Contemplation | A thoughtful pose; upgrades add floating thought bubbles |
Come Here | A beckoning gesture; upgrades add trailing star particles |
The Star Dome Echo series is a collection of astronomical and research-themed furniture for the player's home. All pieces share a celestial design language featuring deep blues, gold accents, and glowing star motifs.
Furniture | Description |
|---|---|
Star Orrery | A rotating model of the Roco Kingdom's celestial bodies |
Astrology Platform | An elevated platform with constellation engravings |
Telescope | A large brass telescope aimed at the night sky |
Astrology Tent | A cozy tent draped with star-patterned fabric |
Carpet | A deep blue carpet woven with constellation patterns |
Lost Star | A fallen star fragment that glows softly in the dark |
Beyond the Season Shop, Season 1 offers additional commemorative items obtainable through Wish Stars earned from seasonal activities. These items follow the astronomy and research theme of the Box Research Lab.
New costumes: Themed outfits inspired by the researcher aesthetic, complementing the Researcher's Hat from the Season Shop.
Toys: Collectible miniatures tied to the Box Research Lab storyline.
Action animations: Additional emote-style animations beyond the four available in the shop, offering more ways to express yourself in the open world.
Furniture: Astronomy and research-themed furniture pieces that expand on the Star Dome Echo series, allowing players to create a fully themed research laboratory or observatory in their home.
All commemorative items are exclusive to Season 1 and will not return in future seasons (unless explicitly stated in a rerun announcement). Collecting a full set of these items provides a permanent memento of the inaugural season.
Season 1 spans nearly two months, giving players ample time to complete the 100-level pass, farm Nightmare Shackles encounters, finish seasonal missions, and collect all seasonal rewards.
March 26, 2026: Season 1 begins alongside the global launch of Roco Kingdom: World.
May 21, 2026: Season 1 ends. All season-exclusive Spirits, shiny variants, commemorative items, and shop items become unavailable.
Players are encouraged to prioritize the Light Collection Pass early, as many of the best rewards (including Capture Light Balls and Dream Weaver Prism Balls) are gated behind higher pass levels.
