Rewinding Cadence is being developed primarily in Simplified Chinese, with English subtitling in promotional material indicating that English text will be supported on the global track at launch. Simplified Chinese is the lead language. It is the language of the studio's Chinese-language official site, the Crimson Test build, and the in-game text shown in the closed beta. English subtitles appear on every English-language trailer published on the studio's YouTube channel; this is the strongest public signal that English will be a supported text language on the global track.
Announced But Unconfirmed
The studio has signaled, in interview-style coverage and in storefront-listing planning, that the global track will eventually support multiple languages. The exact list has not been published. The languages most often discussed across community channels are:
Japanese (ja). The Japanese rendering of the title (帰環) appears in some marketing, suggesting a Japanese-language plan.
Korean (ko). The studio's adjacent shooter portfolio has historically supported Korean subtitling, which raises the prior probability for Rewinding Cadence.
Traditional Chinese (zh-TW / zh-HK). A separate text track for Taiwan and Hong Kong audiences is consistent with most CN-developed live-service games.
French, German, Spanish (Latin America), and Portuguese (Brazil). All are common at global launch for live-service games of this scale, but none have been confirmed.
Voice Acting
Confirmed voice-over languages: Simplified Chinese only. The closed beta shipped with Chinese-language voice acting and Chinese-language UI. English voice-over support has not been confirmed at any level (announcement, beta, or roadmap commitment).
Players following the global track should plan, conservatively, for a launch with English subtitles over Chinese-language voice. Adding additional voice-over tracks usually trails the text-localization path by several months for live-service games.
Subtitles and UI
On the closed beta build, all UI elements were Simplified Chinese. The global build's UI language list has not been published, and the in-game language selector seen in beta footage included only Simplified Chinese. As global pre-registration matures, expect the language selector to expand and the storefront-listed language list to become the canonical record.
Naming Conventions Across Languages
Several in-world terms have multiple renderings that propagate between languages. This wiki uses the canonical English spellings as defined by the developer's official global-track marketing:
Rewinding Cadence (English) / 归环 (Simplified Chinese, Guīhuán) / 帰環 (Japanese rendering used in some marketing).
the Returner (English canonical) versus the Recursor (older translation pass, retained as alternative in the glossary).
Sunblight Tide (English canonical) versus Corroding Tide (older translation, see sunblight-tide).
Crimson Test (English) / 首测 (Simplified Chinese, literally "first test").
The full name list is maintained in the glossary. Wiki contributors writing in English should default to the canonical English spelling and add the alternate name in parentheses when the alternate term is likely to surface in older articles or community guides.
