Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics is being developed by Ubisoft's studio in Paris and published by Ubisoft. In its own community post announcing the project, the team described the game as developed by a dedicated team located in Paris, after several years of development. The game's store listing credits developer and publisher simply as Ubisoft, without naming the studio, which is standard practice for that field and is not a contradiction.
The Team
The team has been described as veteran developers of both the tactical shooter genre and the turn-based tactics genre, which is an unusually direct statement of intent for a project that has to bridge exactly those two things. Reveal coverage described the team as including people who worked on Ubisoft's turn-based tactics titles as well as its shooter, action and other franchises.
The project's Creative Director is Elie Benhamou. He has described his own background as having worked on several titles in the same family of games across his career, and framed the project's aim in plain terms: the team focused on building the kind of tactical experience they would want to play themselves. On the design question of turning a first-person series into a turn-based one, his stated position is that the series shares a common tactical core of intelligence, planning, high-stakes decision-making and specialists with distinct roles, and that the shift changes the player's perspective and pacing without changing that core.
Working With the Siege Team
The Paris studio worked closely with the team in Montreal that makes Rainbow Six Siege. The stated purpose was to give the most accurate representation of that game as a turn-based tactics game, which covers both the surface details and the systems: the reconnaissance drones, the breaching charges and the destructible buildings are all deliberate carry-overs. See Breach and Destruction.
The collaboration extended to the writing. The story was developed with the Siege narrative team so that the two games sit correctly in the same timeline, with each standing on its own while offering connecting threads to players who follow both. On 29 August 2026, four days after the reveal, the narrative directors of both games appeared together on Ubisoft's channels to discuss how that collaboration worked. See Story and Setting.
What the Studio Chose Not to Do
Ubisoft has stated that the game contains no in-game store and no live-service structure. That is a notable decision for a spin-off of a long-running service game, and it was presented at reveal as a deliberate line between the two products: this one is bought and played through. It also shapes the design of the progression systems, since everything is paid for inside the campaign. See Skill Trees and Headquarters and Intelligence.
