PUBG: Black Budget is built around persistent progression. Loot extracted from runs feeds into long-term character growth and customization that carry over between sessions, giving the game a metagame layer on top of its moment-to-moment extraction loop.
Character Growth
Players experience persistent character growth through skills, proficiencies, and upgrade systems. As Contractors improve, their capabilities expand over the long term. Progression also has a direct gameplay consequence: difficulty scales with player level and with time spent inside the loop, so a more advanced character faces tougher challenges.

Weapon and Gear Customization
Customization is extensive and covers both equipment and appearance. Confirmed customization options include the following:
Extensive weapon and gear customization, including faction-exclusive items earned through the game's factions.
Healing items and stimulants that enhance survivability and performance during a run.
Full character customization, including appearance and clothing.
Weapon and equipment skins.
Currency
The game's currency is the obol. It surfaced publicly when players from the opening week of the first Closed Alpha Test were sent a money package containing 50,000 obol, claimable from the in-game mailbox. Earning rates, prices, and what currency is spent on have not been detailed, though the base is advertised as including facilities that provide income, which implies a standing source of it between raids.
How Deep Customization Goes
Customization is not limited to swapping whole weapons. The equipment named during alpha testing covers magazines, stocks, handguards, barrels, pistol grips, foregrips, compensators, a heat management device, and a burst-fire component, which puts modification at the level of individual parts. Several of those parts are named for the weapon they fit rather than being generic, so at least some of the attachment pool appears to be weapon-specific. The full published set is listed in Weapons and Equipment.
Tied to the Base
Much of progression flows through the hideout. Crafting stations, stash upgrades, income facilities, and a research station at The Base turn extracted loot into new equipment and capabilities. The research station in particular serves as a progression hub that links character growth to the game's story. See Story and Setting for the narrative side and Factions for reputation-based rewards.
