Time to Party!

Fix Party Curry recipe: Honey amount is 5, not 15
"Time to Party!" is the Important Request for the Rocky Ridges region in Pokemon Pokopia. DJ Rotom asks you to organize a celebration by raising the area's mood to 100 points, recruiting helpers, preparing food, and cooking a massive batch of Party Curry. The quest involves multiple steps including rescuing Chef Dente from a hanging barrel, recruiting Ludicolo as a Hype-specialty Pokemon, displaying appraised Lost Relics, and building up the party venue with decorations. Completing this quest leads to a legendary Pokemon encounter with Volcanion and is required for further story progression.
Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
Region access | Rocky Ridges must be unlocked (Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges unlock simultaneously after completing the Withered Wasteland main quest) |
Environment Level | Reach Environment Level 3 in Rocky Ridges |
Moves learned | Strength (from Machoke), Cut (from Scyther) |
Specialty needed | At least one Pokemon with the Burn specialty |
PC restored | Rocky Ridges PC must be operational |
Scorbunny alerts you about mysterious sounds coming from a blocked cave in Rocky Ridges.
Craft a Hamburger Steak (Bean on a Frying Pan) and eat it to power up Rock Smash.
Use the powered-up Rock Smash to break through a gemstone rock wall blocking the cave entrance.
DJ Rotom (in stereo/CD player form) is discovered inside the cave.
DJ Rotom introduces itself and assigns the "Time to Party!" Important Request. A Nerdy Outfit can also be collected inside this cave.
Chef Dente (a Greedent wearing a cooking pot as a hat) is trapped inside a barrel suspended from the ceiling by a chain. You must power up the Cut ability before you can free it:
Befriend Dartrix and craft a Cutting Board.
Make a Simple Salad on the Cutting Board (Leaf + ingredients) to power up Leafage.
Find Torkoal in the hot springs area and bring it back to unlock the Bread Oven recipe.
Build a Bread Oven (2 Stones, 2 Small Logs, 4 Volcanic Ash).
Make and eat Simple Bread to power up Cut.
Return to the barrel and use powered-up Cut to slice the chain. Chef Dente drops free.
Once rescued, Chef Dente teaches you cooking and sets up the Party Cooking Pot for the celebration.
Receive the Party Cooking Pot from Chef Dente. Clear volcanic ash and stones from the party area using Rollout, then place the Party Cooking Pot in the cleared space. Talk to Chef Dente after placing it, then speak with DJ Rotom to confirm the venue.
DJ Rotom needs Music CDs to play during the party. Find CDs from the bookshelf near the Party Cooking Pot or from glowing blocks and buried treasure throughout the world (use the Dowsing Machine). Give at least 2 CDs to DJ Rotom. It accepts up to 5 for the party playlist.
DJ Rotom requests a Pokemon with the Hype specialty to get the party energy going. The easiest option is Ludicolo:
Eat a Salad to power up Leafage.
Use Leafage to grow 4 patches of Duckweed near water, creating the "Uplifting Duckweed" habitat.
Ludicolo appears at the habitat and can be befriended.
Lead Ludicolo to DJ Rotom's location.
When music plays, Ludicolo dances and gradually improves the mood of all nearby Pokemon. Alternative Hype-specialty Pokemon include Volbeat and Illumise (attracted via the Hydrated Flower Bed habitat).
Talk to Professor Tangrowth about displaying relics for the party. Find Large Lost Relics from glowing ground spots and buried treasure throughout the world. Have Tangrowth appraise them, then display the appraised relics on walls in the party area. Each displayed relic contributes to the mood score.
Chef Dente teaches you the Party Platter recipe. Craft 5 Party Platters at a workbench. Each platter requires 1 Iron Ingot (5 Iron Ingots total). To get Iron Ingots, eat Hamburger Steak to power up Rock Smash, then mine grey-flecked ore blocks inside the volcano and smelt them at a furnace.
Fill each platter with cooked food. Simple Salad is the most efficient option. The game says to use five different meals, but five of the same meal also works. Place the filled platters on tables in the party area.
Place decorative items throughout the party area to boost the mood score. The game grades based on quantity, not aesthetics, so pile as many decorations as possible. Effective items include:
Decoration | Mood Points | How to Obtain |
|---|---|---|
Balloon sets | +2 per set | Craft at workbench or purchase from PC Shop |
Bunting | +2 per piece | Craft at workbench |
Magby statues | Varies | Craft at workbench |
Stages and spotlights | Varies | Purchase from PC Shop (Life Coins) |
Microphone and speakers | Varies | Purchase from PC Shop |
Wall decorations | Varies | Craft or purchase |
Any furniture or decor | Varies | Any source |
Check the current mood level by speaking to DJ Rotom and selecting "How's the mood right now?" Keep adding decorations until the mood reaches 100 points. All decorations can be removed after the quest is complete, so do not worry about messy placement or wasting expensive items.
Once the mood reaches 100 points, Chef Dente is ready to cook the Party Curry. Gather the following ingredients:
Ingredient | Amount | How to Obtain |
|---|---|---|
Leppa Berries | 15 | Pick from berry bushes in all areas |
Wheat | 15 | Grow on tilled soil using Rototiller |
Beans | 15 | Grow on tilled soil alongside Wheat |
Honey | 5 | Collected from sparkling flower beds, or via Combee's Gather Honey specialty |
Place all ingredients in the Party Cooking Pot and interact with it to begin cooking. You need Chef Dente plus 4 other Pokemon present as helpers. The specific helper Pokemon can vary; any befriended Pokemon in Rocky Ridges will work. Cooking takes approximately 6 to 8 real-world minutes. Follow the on-screen prompts to stir, add ingredients, and manage the heat. The curry cutscene plays once cooking is complete, and the party officially begins.
After the Party Curry is ready, speak to Professor Tangrowth to trigger a cutscene. Volcanion (a Fire/Water Mythical Pokemon) appears atop the volcano overlooking Rocky Ridges. To reach it:
Use Water Gun to hit lava on the volcano slope, turning it into solid blocks that you can walk across.
Climb to the volcano's peak and speak to Volcanion.
Volcanion initially complains about the disturbance but warms up to you. It is also searching for information about the missing humans.
Volcanion puts on a fireworks display over the party venue.
Return to the party and speak to Professor Tangrowth to complete the quest.
Reward | Description |
|---|---|
Chef Dente joins your community | Party specialty permanently available; bonus food production when cooking |
DJ Rotom joins your community | DJ specialty; plays Music CDs for background music and atmosphere |
Cooking system fully unlocked | All four cooking station types become available |

Start farming Wheat, Beans, and Leppa Berries as soon as possible. Crops take time to grow; having a Grow-specialty Pokemon nearby speeds this up.
Decorations placed for the mood boost can all be picked up and reused elsewhere after the quest. Do not craft expensive items just for this quest.
Iron Ingots for Party Platters are the most time-consuming requirement. Mine ore blocks inside the volcano after eating Hamburger Steak to power up Rock Smash.
Simple Salad is the fastest food to prepare for filling Party Platters (just Leaf + any ingredient on a Cutting Board).
Balloons and bunting are the most efficient decorations for mood points (2 points each). Spam these if you are short on items.
You can check mood progress at any time by talking to DJ Rotom and selecting "How's the mood right now?"
The curry cooking phase takes real-world time. If you want to skip the wait, you can advance the system clock on your Switch.
After completing the quest, Chef Dente's Party specialty boosts the quantity of food produced when cooking, making all future meal preparation more efficient.
The Volcanion encounter is a narrative reward; Volcanion appears during the fireworks but is not permanently recruitable at this point.
