Pupitar is a Rock/Ground-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Hard Shell Pokemon (Dex #170). Its shell is as hard as bedrock, and it is also very strong. Its thrashing can topple a mountain. Pupitar is the middle stage of a three-member family that includes Larvitar and Tyranitar. It carries both the Crush and Bulldoze specialties, the same combination as Larvitar.
Pupitar is found at the Tree-shaded Pink Tall Grass habitat (#138). Growing in the shade of a tree, this pink grass is just the tiniest bit damp.
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Pink Tall Grass | 4 | Planted or found in the wild |
Large Tree (any) | 1 | Any large tree type works |
Pupitar appears as a Common visitor at this habitat. It is available during all times of day (Dawn, Day, Dusk, Night) and in all weather conditions (Sunny, Cloudy, Rainy). Other visitors at this habitat include Sprigatito (Common), Dreepy (Common), and Drakloak (Rare).
Build the Tree-shaded Pink Tall Grass habitat by placing four Pink Tall Grass and one Large Tree of any type near each other. Since Pupitar is a Common visitor, it should appear relatively quickly. Walk up and interact with it to befriend it. Unlike Larvitar, which only appears in Sunny weather, Pupitar shows up in all weather conditions.
Pupitar has the Crush specialty, shared with its pre-evolution Larvitar and its evolution Tyranitar. Pokemon with the Crush specialty can break down large rocks, boulders, and other heavy objects into raw materials. Given Pupitar's description of having a shell as hard as bedrock, it is well-suited for this work.
Pupitar also has the Bulldoze specialty, which lets it clear and flatten terrain for building. At 335.1 lbs, Pupitar is heavier than most Pokemon its size, and its thrashing power makes it effective at reshaping the landscape. This same Crush and Bulldoze combination is shared across the entire Larvitar evolutionary line.

Pupitar prefers dark environments and dry-flavored food, differing from Larvitar's sweet flavor preference. It shares the stone and shiny stuff likes with Larvitar but trades "lots of dirt" and "looks like food" for "hard stuff" and "watching stuff." Place stone, hard, and shiny items near the habitat to increase its Comfort Level.

"Its shell is as hard as bedrock, and it is also very strong. Its thrashing can topple a mountain."
Pupitar is the middle stage of a three-member family that includes Larvitar (Dex #169) and Tyranitar (Dex #171). In the main Pokemon series, Larvitar evolves into Pupitar at level 30, and Pupitar evolves into Tyranitar at level 55. In Pokopia, all three share the Crush and Bulldoze specialties. Larvitar and Tyranitar share the Mossy Rest Spot habitat (#110), while Pupitar is found at its own Tree-shaded Pink Tall Grass habitat (#138).
Pupitar appears in all weather conditions, unlike Larvitar which is limited to Sunny weather. If you need a Crush/Bulldoze Pokemon regardless of weather, Pupitar is the more flexible option.
The Tree-shaded Pink Tall Grass habitat also attracts Sprigatito (Common), Dreepy (Common), and Drakloak (Rare). Building it gives you access to four different Pokemon.
If you want the complete Larvitar family, build the Mossy Rest Spot (#110) for Larvitar and Tyranitar, and the Tree-shaded Pink Tall Grass (#138) for Pupitar.
At 335.1 lbs, Pupitar is more than twice as heavy as Larvitar (158.7 lbs) despite being less than two feet taller. This reflects its cocoon-like form packed with dense rocky material.
