Overview

Machop (Pokedex #156, Superpower Pokemon) is a Fighting-type Pokemon that can be befriended in Pokemon Pokopia. Machop is one of the few Pokemon in the game with two specialties: Build and Gather, making it especially valuable for large construction projects where it can both lead the build and transport materials.

To raise Machop's comfort level, surround its habitat with items in these tag groups:

• Exercise (training equipment, gym items)

• Construction (building tools, scaffolding)

• Stone stuff (rocks, brick decorations)

• Hard stuff (metal, dense materials)

• Group Activities (party items, gathering decor)

Where to Find

Palette Town (Primary)

Machop is exclusive to Palette Town among the five main story regions. To unlock Palette Town, you need the Rock Smash ability and enough blocks to build a bridge across the gap on the western path of Withered Wasteland.

Cloud Island

Machop also spawns on Cloud Islands, the multiplayer-shared islands. This makes Machop available to players who visit friends' Cloud Islands even if they have not yet unlocked Palette Town.

Habitat: Boulder-Shaded Tall Grass

Machop's habitat is the Boulder-shaded Tall Grass setup. This habitat combines tall grass (created with the Leafage move) and a boulder for shade. Place a Boulder near a patch of tall grass and ensure the area meets Bright environment requirements.

Build + Gather Specialty

Machop's dual specialty is its standout feature in Pokopia:

• Build: Machop can lead construction projects when assigned as a helper to building kits. This includes Pokemon Center Rebuilding Kits, dwellings, and other large structures.

• Gather: Machop can pick up materials and place them into Community Boxes, consolidating dropped resources from Litter-specialty Pokemon and other sources.

This dual role makes Machop a top pick for ambitious settlements where you want a single Pokemon that contributes to both active construction and passive resource management.

Connection to Machoke

Machop is the pre-evolution of Machoke, which teaches Ditto the Strength transformation in Rocky Ridges. While Pokemon do not evolve in Pokopia in the traditional sense, both Machop and Machoke can be befriended independently. Machoke has the Build and Bulldoze specialties (different from Machop's Build and Gather). This reflects the canon connection to construction work.

Tips

• Befriend Machop as soon as you unlock Palette Town. The Build + Gather dual specialty makes it the best single Pokemon for ambitious building projects.

• Place Machop's habitat near your main building hub. Both specialties benefit from proximity to construction sites and Community Boxes.

• Pair Machop with Engineer specialty Tinkmaster on large projects for the fastest possible build times.

• Spicy-flavored cooked food (e.g., Spicy Bread, Spicy Soup) raises Machop's comfort level. Stockpile some when you befriend it.
