Place Small Logs near a Pokemon with the Chop specialty (Scyther is the most common) and it will process them into Lumber over time. The processing is automatic once the Pokemon is assigned to the area.
Lumber is used in an enormous number of crafting recipes. Wooden furniture, floors, walls, fences, bridges, shelves, tables, chairs, and many habitat items all require Lumber. It is also a core ingredient in many building kits.
Lumber is produced by giving Small Logs to a Pokemon with the Chop specialty. Each Small Log yields 5 Lumber. You can give up to 10 Small Logs at once for 50 Lumber.
Get Small Logs by using Cut on trees, or collect them from water sparkles and Pokemon gifts.
Talk to a Chop Pokemon (Scyther is the earliest available, followed by Pinsir and Heracross).
