Overview

Lugia is a legendary Psychic/Flying-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, registered as Pokedex #297. Known as the Diving Pokemon, Lugia periodically flies overhead during overcast or rainy weather and drops Silver Feathers that players can collect. Lugia can be registered in the Pokedex by crafting the Tidal Bell and using it to summon Lugia after befriending all three legendary birds (Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres).

Even after registration, Lugia cannot be brought into a habitat or housed in a building. It remains a flyby legendary that passes overhead and continues to drop Silver Feathers.

Pokedex Entry

Appearances and Silver Feathers

Lugia flies overhead during overcast or rainy weather. It can appear above any of the five islands. When Lugia arrives, it emits two loud cries audible across the entire zone, then drops a Silver Feather as it passes. Like Ho-Oh, Lugia appearances are uncommon.

Visual Indicator

When a Silver Feather lands, it creates a massive tornado or wind column on the ground with silver sparkles. This swirling vortex is visible from a distance and marks exactly where the feather has fallen. The wind column prevents the feather from being picked up directly.

How to Collect

1. Watch for the tornado column on the ground after hearing Lugia's cries.

2. Run to the column before it dissipates. There is a limited collection window.

3. Use Cut on the wind column to slice through the turbulence and disperse the tornado.

4. Pick up the Silver Feather from the cleared spot.

If you do not reach the feather in time or fail to use Cut, the Silver Feather blows away and is lost. Always keep a Pokemon with Cut available while exploring during rainy or overcast weather.

Tidal Bell and Summoning

The Tidal Bell is a special craftable item that allows you to summon Lugia and register it in your Pokedex. The recipe is unlocked by befriending all three legendary birds: Articuno (#294), Zapdos (#295), and Moltres (#296).

Crafting the Tidal Bell

Prerequisites

Before you can craft the Tidal Bell, you must befriend all three legendary birds. Each bird requires constructing a specific Building Kit found in Palette Town:

Each legendary bird kit is found as a collectible item on a specific island in Palette Town, not purchased from the PC Shop. All three kits require 15 Pokemon workers. See the Building Kits Guide for full details on construction.

Summoning Lugia

1. Craft the Tidal Bell at a Workbench after unlocking the recipe.

2. Place the Tidal Bell in an open area.

3. Wait for Lugia to fly overhead during overcast or rainy weather.

4. Ring the bell while Lugia is visible to trigger a special cutscene.

5. Lugia descends and is registered in your Pokedex as entry #297.

After registration, Lugia cannot be brought into a habitat or assigned tasks. It continues to fly overhead during overcast and rainy weather and drop Silver Feathers, which can still be collected and traded.

Trading Silver Feathers

Silver Feathers can be traded to Gimmighoul at the Museum in Rocky Ridges. Gimmighoul's first interaction specifically requests a Rainbow Feather from Ho-Oh. After that initial trade, both Silver Feathers and Rainbow Feathers are accepted.

Each trade exchanges one feather for a random piece from the Pop Art furniture collection:

Since rewards are random, you may receive duplicates before completing the full set. Keep collecting feathers and trading until you have all five pieces.

Increasing Lugia Appearances

Lugia appearances are uncommon by default. Two methods can increase the frequency of sightings:

Daily Challenge

The "Gather Mysterious Feathers" Daily Challenge requires collecting both a Silver Feather (from Lugia) and a Rainbow Feather (from Ho-Oh) in the same day. Completing this challenge rewards 200 Life Coins. This is one of the harder daily challenges because it requires both rainy and sunny weather in a single day, along with favorable legendary spawn timing.

To attempt this challenge, start with whichever weather condition is naturally occurring, collect that feather, then use Humidity manipulation (Rain Dance Sites or Sunny Day Sites) to shift the weather for the second feather.

Connection to Ho-Oh

Lugia and Ho-Oh form a parallel pair in Pokopia. Both are flyby legendaries that cannot live in habitats, both drop collectible feathers, and both require crafting a special bell after befriending a trio of legendaries. The key differences are:

Tips

• Always carry a Pokemon with Cut when exploring during rainy or overcast weather. Missing a Silver Feather because you lacked Cut is frustrating since Lugia appearances are infrequent.

• The tornado column is visible from a considerable distance and has silver sparkles. Scan the horizon frequently while exploring in rain.

• Start collecting Silver Feathers early, even before you have the Tidal Bell recipe. You need 5 feathers for the bell, and Lugia appearances are uncommon.

• The legendary bird kits are the most expensive building projects in the game. Start stockpiling materials (especially Pokemetal, Gold Ingot, and Lava Rock) in Rocky Ridges and Sparkling Skylands well in advance.

• Rare Pokemetal is the harder material to stockpile for the Tidal Bell. Farm Pokemetal Fragment blocks on Dream Islands (use a Dragonite Doll for Sky Dream Islands) and hope for rare drops.

• Remember that Gimmighoul's first trade requires a Rainbow Feather from Ho-Oh, not a Silver Feather. You must trade a Rainbow Feather first before Silver Feathers are accepted.

• Building all three legendary bird facilities also makes the birds permanent island residents. Zapdos's Fly specialty is especially useful for fast travel.
