Overview

Pokemon Pokopia includes multiple legendary and mythical Pokemon that can be encountered through story progression, Dream Island exploration, special building projects, and collectible quests. Unlike regular Pokemon, legendaries often have unique encounter conditions tied to completing specific quests or constructing particular buildings.

Legendary and mythical Pokemon have a greater effect on the Environment Level of the area you bring them to compared to regular Pokemon. As you improve their comfort level, it becomes easier to raise the entire area's Environment Level. This makes legendaries valuable for progression even beyond their unique specialties.

Story Legendaries

These legendary Pokemon are encountered as part of the main story progression. Each is tied to a specific area and unlocked by completing that area's main quest line. Story encounters are unmissable and automatically add the Pokemon to your Pokedex.

Raikou's Generate specialty allows it to power machines with electricity, making it useful for the electrical systems in Bleak Beach. Mewtwo's Teleport specialty instantly warps the player across the map to a requested Pokemon, making post-game navigation significantly faster.

Legendary Birds

The three legendary birds from Kanto require constructing specific Building Kits to attract them. These kits can be purchased from the Pokemon Center PC Shop. Once encountered, all three birds can relocate to player towns and inhabit houses, making them permanent residents of your world.

Building Kit encounters require sufficient space in the chosen area for the structure. Each kit creates a themed habitat that the corresponding legendary bird visits. After the initial encounter, the bird is added to your Pokedex and can return to your towns.

Legendary Beasts

The three legendary beasts from Johto each have different encounter methods. Raikou is encountered through the main story in Bleak Beach, while Entei and Suicune are roaming legendaries found on Dream Islands.

Dream Island spawns are not guaranteed on every visit. Multiple trips with the correct Doll may be needed before the legendary beast appears. Give the appropriate Doll to Drifloon to travel to Dream Islands.

Ho-Oh and Lugia

Ho-Oh and Lugia appear in the skies above Pokopia and periodically drop collectible feathers. These feathers serve as valuable trade items for Gimmighoul at the Pewter City Museum in Rocky Ridges. Ho-Oh and Lugia are not catchable or befriendable; they exist as sky-roaming legendaries whose presence is signaled by their distinctive loud cries audible across the entire zone.

Ho-Oh and Rainbow Feathers

Ho-Oh appears periodically during sunny weather across any of the five areas. Its appearance is announced by two loud, distinctive cries. Ho-Oh flies into the middle of the region, waits briefly, then drops a Rainbow Feather. The feather falls slowly and emits a column of smoke and flames visible from a distance. To collect the feather:

1. Spot the column of smoke rising from the feather's landing location.

2. Travel to the smoke marker.

3. Use Water Gun to extinguish the flames surrounding the feather.

4. Collect the Rainbow Feather.

Lugia and Silver Wings

Lugia appears periodically during overcast or rainy weather across any of the five areas. Like Ho-Oh, its presence is signaled by two loud cries. Lugia drops a Silver Wing that emits a massive tornado/wind column showing its location. To collect the feather:

1. Spot the tornado spiraling up from the feather's landing location.

2. Travel to the tornado marker.

3. Use Cut to slice through the wind column.

4. Collect the Silver Wing.

Trading Feathers

Both Rainbow Feathers and Silver Wings are traded with Gimmighoul (#205, Ghost-type, Chest Form) at the Rocky Ridges Museum. Gimmighoul's first interaction specifically requests a Rainbow Feather. After that initial trade, both feather types and appraised Lost Relics can be exchanged. Rainbow Feathers trade for special exclusive furniture and decorations (e.g., Pop Art Table), while Silver Wings trade for pop art furniture (e.g., Pop Art Sofa). These items are exclusive to the Gimmighoul exchange and unavailable elsewhere.

Mythical Pokemon

Mew

Mew is the final Pokedex entry (#224) and the reward for collecting all 28 Mysterious Slates hidden throughout the game. Mysterious Slates are found inside glowing blocks (the same blocks that contain Lost Relics and Fossils). Each slate bears an Unown symbol engraving on its back.

In the Withered Wasteland, behind the Pokemon Center, punch down a wall to reveal a hidden chamber containing a mural of the entire Unown alphabet. Place each slate in the position matching its Unown symbol. As slates are inserted, a picture gradually forms. After all 28 slates are placed, Mew appears and joins the player permanently. Mew has the Teleport specialty (same as Mewtwo) and stays with the player rather than returning to a fixed location.

The game does not give duplicate slates until all unique ones are found, so every new slate brings you closer to Mew. Use a Pokemon with the Search specialty and the Dowsing Machine ability to locate glowing blocks more efficiently.

Post-Game Re-Encounters

• Mewtwo can be re-encountered on Ditto Dream Islands during the post-game.

• Other story legendaries (Kyogre, Raikou, Volcanion) remain in their original locations after the initial story encounter.

• Legendary birds remain accessible at their Building Kit habitats and can move into houses in your towns.

• Entei and Suicune continue to appear on Dream Islands with the appropriate Dolls.

• Ho-Oh and Lugia continue to fly overhead and drop feathers periodically. Ho-Oh requires sunny weather; Lugia requires overcast or rainy conditions.

Environment Level Boost

All legendary and mythical Pokemon provide a significantly greater boost to the Environment Level of whatever area they are placed in. Improving a legendary Pokemon's comfort level has an outsized impact compared to regular Pokemon. This makes legendaries strategically valuable for pushing past Environment Level thresholds in areas where you are close to the next tier.

Tips

• Complete each area's main quest line to encounter the story legendaries. These are unmissable and added to your Pokedex automatically.

• Buy the legendary bird Building Kits from the PC Shop as soon as they become available. Palette Town is recommended for the Abandoned Power Plant Kit (Zapdos) due to available space.

• Bring Ditto Dolls and Arcanine Dolls to Dream Islands for Entei. Substitute Dolls are needed for Suicune. Multiple trips may be necessary.

• Watch the skies. Ho-Oh appears during sunny weather and Lugia during overcast or rainy conditions. Listen for their two distinctive loud cries.

• When you see smoke rising (Ho-Oh feather) or a tornado forming (Lugia feather), head to the location immediately. Use Water Gun on Ho-Oh feathers and Cut on Lugia feathers.

• Save Rainbow Feathers and Silver Wings for Gimmighoul in the Rocky Ridges Museum. They trade for exclusive Pop Art furniture unavailable anywhere else.

• Gimmighoul's first interaction requests a Rainbow Feather specifically, so prioritize collecting one during sunny weather in any area.

• Start collecting the 28 Mysterious Slates early. They appear in the same glowing blocks as Lost Relics. Check the mural chamber behind the Withered Wasteland Pokemon Center to track your progress.

• Place legendary Pokemon in areas where you need Environment Level boosts. Their enhanced comfort impact can push you over thresholds that regular Pokemon cannot reach alone.

• Mewtwo and Mew both have the Teleport specialty, making them the two best Pokemon for fast travel in the post-game.
