Overview

Roads are a key part of town building in Pokemon Pokopia. Placing road blocks creates paths that Pokemon prefer to walk on, making them travel farther and faster. Roads also improve the visual appearance of your town and help direct Pokemon movement for quests and habitat setups.

How to Build Roads

Step 1: Craft Road Blocks

Access any workbench in the overworld. Tab over to the Blocks category on the crafting screen and scroll through the available recipes marked as road blocks. If the recipes are not yet available, purchase them from the PC Shop. Stairs also count as road blocks and can be found in the Buildings category.

Step 2: Break Existing Road Blocks (Optional)

You can break existing road blocks in the world to repurpose them. This requires the Rock Smash move, unlocked by befriending Hitmonchan. Some blocks drop the block itself when broken, while others drop raw materials that can be used to craft the same block at a workbench.

Step 3: Pick Up Stairs

Stairs do not need to be broken. Simply approach them and press the Y button to pick up one block's worth of stairs. This makes stairs easy to collect and reposition.

Step 4: Place Road Blocks

Once your inventory is stocked, place blocks in the overworld to create roads. You may need to destroy existing terrain blocks first to clear the placement area.

Road Block Types

Road blocks are split across two crafting categories. The Buildings category contains stairs and elevated walkway options, while the Blocks category holds flooring and pavement types.

Tips

Connect key areas of your town (habitats, workbenches, shops) with roads so Pokemon can navigate between them efficiently.
Stairs are the quickest road blocks to collect since you can pick them up with Y without needing Rock Smash.
Check both the Buildings and Blocks categories when browsing the workbench. Stairs are listed under Buildings, not Blocks.
Use the PC Shop to buy recipes for road blocks you have not yet unlocked through gameplay.
