Overview

Some Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia prefer cool, cold environments. Ice-type Pokemon in particular thrive in habitats that are kept away from heat sources. Creating a cool habitat involves removing fire-based decorations and optionally building structures with Ice Blocks. Meeting a Pokemon's temperature preference increases its Comfort Level.

Methods to Make a Habitat Cool

What to Remove vs. What to Keep

Not all light sources generate heat. Understanding which decorations are safe to place near cool habitats is important for managing both brightness and temperature.

Lamps and electricity-based decorations can be placed near cool habitats because they do not contribute to warming. This means you can still keep a cool habitat well-lit for Pokemon that prefer both bright and cool conditions.

Where to Find Ice Blocks

You can grab Ice Blocks on the east side of Palette Town. Ice Blocks are gathered items rather than crafted. Collect them and use them as building materials when constructing houses for cool-preferring Pokemon.

Building With Ice Blocks

Ice Blocks function like regular building blocks but maintain a cold interior temperature. Use them for walls and optionally the roof when constructing houses for Ice-type Pokemon. Combine Ice Block walls with a roof for a fully enclosed cool structure that also stays protected from weather.

• Use Ice Blocks for walls and roof to create a fully cold interior.

• Include a door for entry and exit.

• Avoid placing campfires, candles, or torches inside or near the Ice Block structure.

• Lamps and electric lights are safe to use inside Ice Block houses for brightness without adding heat.

Pokemon That Prefer Cool Habitats

The following Pokemon prefer cool environments. All confirmed cool-preferring Pokemon are Ice-type or Ice/Rock-type.

Cool and Dry Overlap

Note that Amaura and Aurorus appear in both the cool-preferring and dry-preferring Pokemon lists. These fossil Pokemon prefer habitats that are both cool and dry. For the best comfort, build an Ice Block house in a dry zone with Smooth Rocks nearby, and avoid placing any water sources or fire decorations in the area.

Tips

• The most important step is simply removing fire sources. If no campfires, candles, or torches are nearby, the habitat stays cool by default.

• Lamps and electric lights do not generate heat. You can light up a cool habitat with lamps without raising the temperature.

• Ice Blocks are found on the east side of Palette Town. Stock up before building an Ice Block house.

• For Amaura and Aurorus, combine cool and dry conditions. Build an Ice Block house in a dry zone with a Smooth Rock nearby for optimal comfort.

• Cool-preferring Pokemon are currently a small group (4 confirmed). You may only need one cool zone on your island.

• You can check the area a habitat covers by pressing the Right Stick on your controller to see the white outline.
