Cubone is a Ground-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Lonely Pokemon (Dex #032). Cubone has the Build specialty, which makes it one of the essential Pokemon for constructing structures and buildings from blueprints. It does not teach Ditto any ability.
In the Pokopia Pokedex, Cubone sits between Steelix (#031) and Marowak (#033). Cubone and Marowak share the same habitat type (Grave with Flowers), though Cubone spawns at Common rarity while Marowak is Rare. Since Pokemon do not evolve in Pokopia, each must be befriended separately.
Cubone's appearance in Pokopia carries an emotional undertone. The Pokedex describes it as wearing "the skull of its deceased mother," and its cries echo inside the skull to produce a sad melody. When the player first encounters Cubone at the Grave with Flowers habitat, it reacts with fear before realizing the player character is actually a Ditto and not a human. This moment has become one of the most talked-about emotional beats in the game.
Cubone appears in the Grave with Flowers habitat (#013). The habitat description reads: "A habitat that exudes a gentle elegance. Pokemon could rest in joyful peace here."
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Wildflowers | 4 | Grow from seeds or relocate existing flowers with Rototiller |
Gravestone | 1 | Found near a cliff northwest of the Pokemon Center in Withered Wasteland |
This habitat also attracts Marowak at Rare rarity. Only one Pokemon can appear in a single habitat at a time, so if you want both Cubone and Marowak, you will need to build a second Grave with Flowers habitat or move the first befriended Pokemon to a house before waiting for the other to appear.
Cubone can be found across all six regions: Withered Wasteland, Bleak Beach, Rocky Ridges, Sparkling Skylands, Palette Town, and Cloud Island. It appears at any time of day and in any weather.
To find the Gravestone needed for the habitat, head to the hill northwest of the Pokemon Center in Withered Wasteland. The Gravestone sits near a cliff edge. Plant four Wildflowers around it (or relocate pre-grown flowers using Rototiller) to complete the habitat.
Cubone has the Build specialty. Pokemon with this specialty are required for constructing structures from Building Kits (blueprints). To start a building project, place a Building Kit on the ground, supply the required materials, then lead a Build specialty Pokemon to the kit and assign it to work on the structure.
At least one Build Pokemon must always be part of any building project. Larger structures like Pokemon Centers require additional workers, sometimes including Pokemon with other specialties such as Bulldoze. Small structures like Dens finish in about 15 minutes, while larger buildings complete at 5:00 AM the following in-game day.

Cubone is one of the easiest Build specialty Pokemon to obtain early in the game. The Grave with Flowers habitat requires only Wildflowers and a Gravestone, both of which are available in Withered Wasteland.
If you need a Build Pokemon quickly, Cubone is a better bet than Marowak since it spawns at Common rarity compared to Marowak's Rare.
Decorate Cubone's living space with dirt, construction materials, exercise equipment, and slender objects to boost its Comfort Level.
Feed Cubone bitter-flavored foods to keep it happy. Bitter dishes are its preferred flavor.
Cubone does not teach Ditto any ability, so its primary value comes from the Build specialty for construction projects.
