Coalossal is a Rock/Fire-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Coal Pokemon (Dex #195). It is gentle usually but fearsome when angered, with a body that burns at over 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit, capable of crushing foes and turning them to ash. Coalossal is the final stage of a three-stage family that includes Rolycoly and Carkol. It carries the Gather and Burn specialties, the same as its pre-evolutions, but its towering size and imposing presence make it a standout addition to any island.
Coalossal can be found at two habitats, though it is rare at both locations.
"Absolutely no crossing while the bar is lowered! But...will Pokemon actually stop and wait?"
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Railway Track | 1 | Core habitat item |
Crossing Gate | 1 | Completes the railroad theme |
Coalossal appears as a Very Rare visitor at the Railroad Crossing. It is available during all times of day and in all weather conditions. This habitat also attracts Rolycoly (Common) and Carkol (Common).
"A monochromatic space with weighty furniture. Light the lantern to add another layer of calm."

|---|---|---|
Iron Bed | 1 | Heavy metal furniture |
Iron Table | 1 | Sturdy work surface |
Iron Chair | 1 | Metal seating |
Lantern | 1 | Provides ambient lighting |
Coalossal appears as a Rare visitor at the Heavy Iron habitat. It is available during all times of day and in all weather conditions. This habitat is dedicated to Coalossal, so building it gives you a second chance at encountering this powerful Pokemon.
Building both the Railroad Crossing and Heavy Iron habitats increases your chances of encountering Coalossal. At the Railroad Crossing, it is Very Rare, while at Heavy Iron it is Rare (slightly more likely). Check both habitats regularly and interact with Coalossal when it appears.
Coalossal has two specialties:
Gather: Coalossal picks up materials and other items found on the ground and places them in a community box, helping you collect resources passively.
Burn: Coalossal can ignite nearby flammable objects, such as campfires and furnaces. This is useful for cooking, brick production, and other fire-related tasks.

Coalossal is the final stage of a three-member family alongside Rolycoly (Dex #193) and Carkol (Dex #194). In the main Pokemon series, Rolycoly evolves into Carkol at level 18, and Carkol evolves into Coalossal at level 34. In Pokopia, there is no evolution mechanic, so each member must be found independently. Other large, imposing Pokemon with the Burn specialty include Torkoal and Magmortar.
Coalossal is one of the rarest Pokemon at the Railroad Crossing. If you are having trouble finding it, build the Heavy Iron habitat as a second option where it appears at Rare rarity instead of Very Rare.
Despite being the final evolution, Coalossal has the same Gather and Burn specialties as Rolycoly and Carkol. Its larger size makes it a visually impressive addition to your island.
The Heavy Iron habitat requires iron furniture (bed, table, chair) and a lantern. Craft these at a workbench if they are not already available.
Pair Coalossal with other fire and rock Pokemon to create a themed mining or industrial area on your island.
