Editions and Pre-Orders

Planet Zoo 2 is a premium, buy-to-play game sold in two digital editions, with a separate physical disc release for consoles a week after launch. Both digital editions include the pre-purchase Bonus Content Pack, so the practical difference between them is the extra animals and decorative signage that come with the higher tier. Pre-orders opened alongside the announcement in May 2026 and run on Steam, the Epic Games Store, the PlayStation Store, and the Xbox store. Digital Editions

The Deluxe Six

The six species bundled with the Deluxe Edition are not part of the base roster. They span every new habitat type the sequel introduces, so the pack adds birds, aquarium fish, and terrestrial mammals rather than concentrating on one group. All six have full entries in the Zoopedia described under Animals and Welfare. Storefront copy calls the shark the Great Hammerhead Shark while the Zoopedia lists it simply as the Great Hammerhead.

Bonus Content Pack

Pre-purchasing either edition unlocks the Bonus Content Pack on launch day. It is a decorative bundle rather than a gameplay advantage, and it slots into the shop and signage sets described under Building and Construction.

How the Packs Are Sold

On console the editions are assembled from separately listed products rather than sold as single monolithic entries. The Standard Edition bundles the base game with the Bonus Content Pack, and the Deluxe Edition adds the Deluxe Upgrade Pack on top of both. This is why the console storefronts flag the game as offering in-game purchases: the flag covers those add-on products, not an in-game currency or a microtransaction system, and Frontier has not announced anything of that kind.

Physical Release

Physical disc editions launch on Tuesday 20 October 2026, one week after the digital release, and are sold through major retailers. The disc versions cover PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There is no disc release for PC.

Mailing List Reward

Subscribing to the game's mailing list grants a separate in-game reward: a brass statue of the Hawksbill Turtle. Frontier notes that the statue shown in promotional material is concept art and the finished in-game model may differ.

Post-Launch Content

As of 13 September 2026, Frontier has not announced any downloadable content. Asked directly about future add-ons on the official help page, the studio says only that the team is fully focused on launch and has nothing to share regarding future content. Nothing has been confirmed about a season pass, expansion packs, or an animal-pack cadence. That absence was re-checked on this date across the official help page, the official news index, the storefront listing, which carries no listed downloadable content, and the company full-year results announcement of 9 September 2026.
