Aviaries let Planet Zoo 2 house fully flying birds for the first time in the series. Rather than being confined to the ground, birds move freely through large enclosed spaces and can be watched both perching below and soaring above.

Players build an aviary by placing walls and barriers, after which support poles and the enclosure's cover are generated dynamically. That cover can take the form of glass or netting, with an adjustable amount of sag, giving each structure a custom shape and size. Birds perch naturally on trees and decor and take to the air in full three-dimensional flight, and guests can walk through an aviary when it is safe to do so.
Aviaries pair with the new aquariums as the sequel's two brand-new habitat types. The birds they hold join the broader roster described under Animals and Welfare.
