Miningandcraftingare core resource-gathering and creation systems inPetit Planet. Players use theMattockto hit rocks and trees, gather raw materials, and usecraftingstations to produce furniture, tools, and decorative items for their planet. These activities contribute toLucageneration and supportPlanet Customization.
TheMattockis the main tool for resource gathering. Unlike games with separate axes and pickaxes, the Mattock is a multi-purpose tool for hitting both rocks and trees. Each swing consumesStrength, the game's energy system, which can be restored by eating food.
Players use the Mattock to smash rocks found across their planet. Rocks yield ores, stone, gems, and occasionally rare minerals. Different rock types produce different materials, and some deposits only appear in certain biomes or after specificLucamilestones.
Resource | Source | Use |
|---|---|---|
Quartz | Found on Islets during Starsea Voyages | Craftingmaterial for various items |
Lucadrops | Collected in the Star Stratum during Starsea Voyages | Vehicle upgrades and car customization |
Ore and stone | Miningrocks on the player's planet | Crafting furniture, tools, and decorations |
Wood | Hitting trees with the Mattock | Crafting furniture and structures |
Shells | Gathering on beaches | Crafting and decoration |
Beyond mining, players gather wood from trees (using the Mattock), shells from beaches, and fibers from plants. Specialized tools like Shellfish Tongs and Bug Nets expand the range of gatherable items. Gathering is generally lower in Strength cost and can supplement mining during low-Strength periods.
Crafting stations allow players to combine raw materials into finished goods. Furniture, decorations, clothing, and tools can all be crafted. Recipes are unlocked through progression,Neighborquests, andStarsea Voyagediscoveries. Each crafted item has specific material requirements.
The game includes acrafting journalthat tracks all objects the player has created and tells them where to find the materials needed for items they have not yet crafted. This journal is both a catalogue of accomplishments and a guide for planning gathering trips, includingStarsea Voyagesfor materials like Quartz that are only found off-planet.
