Overview
Neighbors are the anthropomorphic animal characters who populate the world of Petit Planet. Each Neighbor has a distinct personality, profession, and backstory. Players befriend Neighbors through conversation, gift-giving, and completing tasks for them. Building relationships with Neighbors is one of the main sources of Luca and a core part of the daily gameplay loop.

Planettes
Each Neighbor has their own "Planette", a small personal planet. Planettes can be ranked up by the player, and ranking up a Neighbor's Planette rewards the player with Lumia Batteries for Starsea Voyages. The Planette serves as the Neighbor's home and reflects their personality and profession in its design.
Progression trees
Neighbors have progression trees that resemble RPG talent trees. As the friendship bond with a Neighbor deepens, new branches of their tree unlock, granting the player access to new items, recipes, and planet mechanics or services. This system gives each Neighbor a long-term progression arc beyond simple friendship levels.
Relationship system
Each Neighbor has a friendship meter that increases through regular interaction. Talking to a Neighbor, giving them gifts they like, and completing their requests all raise the friendship level. Higher friendship levels unlock new dialogue, special events, and bonus Luca generation. Stronger relationships also unlock recipes, items, and new planet mechanics or services tied to that Neighbor's expertise.
Outfit suggestions
At certain bond levels, players can suggest outfits for their Neighbors. This allows for additional personalization of the Neighbors' appearance, letting players coordinate their Neighbors' looks with the planet's theme.
Gift system
Neighbors have preferences for specific items. Giving a Neighbor a gift they love produces a large friendship boost, while a disliked gift may result in no gain or a minor setback. Learning each Neighbor's preferences through dialogue clues and experimentation is part of the social gameplay.
Professions
Each Neighbor has a profession that reflects their personality and gameplay role. Some professions relate directly to player activities. For example, Yunguo is a cultivator who provides farming guidance, and Glenn runs a shop where players can buy items. Others have more narrative or social roles, like Mors curating the Omni-Gallery museum.
Finding new Neighbors
Not all Neighbors are present from the start. Some are discovered through Starsea Voyage exploration, appearing on distant islets. For example, Dorjelang was recruited during a Starsea Voyage. Others may arrive on the player's planet as it develops and its Luca level rises.
