Chijiko

Chijiko is a confirmed Genma type in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Capcom has described it as a grotesque mass of interwoven human faces with far-reaching tentacles, a visibly body-horror design rather than a straight-up monster.

Combat

The Chijiko's tentacle reach gives it a wide effective threat range, which changes how Musashi has to close distance. The encounter leans on quick dodges and clean reads rather than brute-force approach, since getting pulled inside its grasp is a heavier punish than most regular Genma can deliver. Dodging cleanly and chaining the red-meter multi-hit follow-up is one of the cleaner openings on this design.

Thematic Role

As with the Kogashira, the Chijiko's design reinforces what Malice does to the human world. Its faces are human, which turns each encounter into an unavoidable reminder that the Genma are not just monsters arriving in Kyoto but something the city's people are being pulled into.

Dokyo's Laboratory

Chijiko is one of the Genma variants Capcom has confirmed as a product of Dokyo's underground laboratory, alongside the Kogashira and other experimental designs shown in the August 2025 Genma Experiments trailer.
