Shadow-n-Seek is a limited-time asymmetric PvP mode in Neverness to Everness. Each match randomly assigns players to one of two sides: Hiders, who disguise themselves as ordinary objects in the environment, and Hunters, who have a fixed time limit to find and catch every Hider. The mode ran from July 17, 2026 at 10:00 (UTC+8) until August 19, 2026 at 05:59 (UTC+8).
Match Format
Sides are assigned at random at the start of each match, so a player can end up on either team from one round to the next. The two roles have completely different toolkits and win conditions.
Side | Role | Key Abilities |
|---|---|---|
Hider | Blend into the environment and survive the timer | Gets a preparation window to explore the map and pick one of three items to disguise as. Cannot attack while hidden. Survives by moving, repositioning, and planting decoys. |
Hunter | Track down and catch every Hider before time expires | Has a scanning ability. Landing a hit on a Hider triggers the catch. Striking a wrong target causes backlash that costs the Hunter HP. |
Win Conditions
Outcome | Condition |
|---|---|
Hiders win | At least two Hiders are still alive when the timer runs out, or all Hunters have their HP depleted. |
Hunters win | Every Hider is caught before time runs out. |
Hunters are given 2 minutes and 20 seconds per match. Because a mistaken swing costs the Hunter HP, the depleted-HP loss condition is reachable through Hider misdirection alone, without any Hider ever attacking.
Playing the Hider Side
The preparation window before Hunters are released is the most important part of a Hider run. Use it to learn the room layout and to pick a disguise that matches objects already common in that area, because a lone object of a type that appears nowhere else is easy to pick out. After transforming, the Hider has no offensive options at all, so survival depends on three things: choosing a believable resting spot, repositioning when a Hunter's scan sweeps the area, and planting decoys to pull attention away.
Because two surviving Hiders are enough to win on the timer, coordinated Hiders benefit from spreading out rather than clustering. A cluster that gets found loses several members to one scan.
Playing the Hunter Side
Hunters work against a hard clock and a self-damaging failure state. The scanning ability narrows the search, but the backlash penalty for hitting scenery means confirming a target before swinging is usually worth the extra second. Sweeping methodically through a room and forcing Hiders to reposition tends to be more reliable than chasing every suspicious object, since a Hider in motion is far easier to identify than one holding still.
