Chaos (Character)
May 27, 2026 at 07:34 AM
Reconciled the page with the confirmed Special Program reveal: removed stale pre-reveal hedging that contradicted the confirmed S-Class Lakshana / Condensate profile
Chaos is an upcoming playable Esper in Neverness to Everness, debuting in Version 1.1. The character shares a name with the Chaos element, one of the six elemental affinities in the game's Esper Cycle system, so it is important to distinguish between Chaos the character and the Chaos element. Chaos was first teased in the Co-Ex Test promotional trailer in February 2026, and the character's full profile, an S-Class Lakshana Esper with Condensate Arc compatibility, was confirmed during the Version 1.1 Special Program on May 23, 2026.
Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
Rank | S-Class |
Element | Lakshana |
Weapon | Pursuit Special signature Arc; weapon class to be confirmed at banner launch |
Role | Damage |
Affiliation | Bureau of Anomaly Control, ETD-6 platoon |
First Appearance | Co-Ex Test promotional trailer (February 2026) |
Status | Confirmed for Version 1.1 Phase 2 banner |
The Chaos element is one of the six elements in the game's combat systemassociated with destructive and unpredictable abilities. Characters aligned with the Chaos element at launch include Lacrimosa (S-Rank, Bureau of Anomaly Control ETD-4) and Daffodil (S-Rank, Eibon Antique Shop bodyguard).

The Version 1.1 Special Program confirmed that the character Chaos is aligned with the Lakshana element, not the Chaos element. Despite sharing a name with the Chaos element, Chaos the character does not produce Chaos-element reactions; his kit is built around the Lakshana attribute with Condensate Arc compatibility.
Chaos was teased in the Co-Ex Test promotional trailer, which accompanied the second closed beta running from February 6 to 20, 2026. The trailer showcased character designs for several unrevealed additions to the roster. the Co-Ex Test trailer gallery teased several future Espers including Chaos, Shinku, Iroi, Nitsa, Elyms, Lingko, and EXE. Chiz was previewed in the same wave and shipped at launch as a City Tycoon Level 18 progression unlock.

The Chaos element produces specific reactions when paired with adjacent elements on the Esper Cycle wheel. Understanding these reactions is important for team building regardless of whether the character Chaos actually belongs to this element:
Reaction | Element Pair | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Scorch | Inflicts damage over time for 15 seconds | |
Nova | Marks a target, causing a burst of Cognito damage after 5 seconds |
Discord is a trio reaction that occurs when both Scorch and Nova are active on the same target simultaneously. This requires an Incantation Esper, a Chaos Esper, and a Psyche Esper all adding to the attack chain. Discord reduces a percentage of the enemy's break meter, providing one of the fastest paths to triggering the stagger system. This makes Chaos-element characters particularly valuable in teams that pressure enemy stagger gauges.
Currently, two confirmed playable characters belong to the Chaos element:
Character | Rank | Role | Affiliation | Weapon |
|---|---|---|---|---|
S-Rank | Damage | Bureau of Anomaly Control (ETD-4) | Esper Constructs | |
S-Rank | Damage | Not yet detailed |
Chaos the character is confirmed as Lakshana element, not Chaos element. He does not contribute to Scorch, Nova, or Discord reactions, all of which require an actual Chaos-element Esper such as Lacrimosa or Daffodil.
Character names in Neverness to Everness are diverse and sometimes thematic. Lacrimosa (Latin for "weeping") is a Chaos-element Esper with a dramatic, gothic design who is obsessed with tomatoes and creates constructs to fight while she naps. Merula takes its name from the Latin word for blackbird, matching her avian visual theme. Baicang draws from Chinese nomenclature. A character named "Chaos" could represent an especially volatile or destructive personality within the lore, or it could be a title or alias rather than a given name.
Chaos was not among the playable characters during the Containment Test (July 2-16, 2025) or the Co-Ex Test (February 6-20, 2026). The Containment Test featured a roster including MintNanallySakiriLacrimosaFadiaand Skiawith HotoriBaicangand Hathor added as new playable additions during that test. The Co-Ex Test expanded the roster further with characters including Chiz. Chaos's introduction was confirmed for Version 1.1 Phase 2, with his debut banner running June 24 to July 8, 2026 (closing at 05:59 UTC+8).

Whenever Chaos (Character) is released, the pull mechanics will follow the standard gacha system that Hotta Studio has confirmed for the launch roster. Planning pull budgets ahead of time is one of the few things players can do before reveal.
No 50/50 on character banners: the No 50/50 System guarantees the featured limited Esper when the pity timer triggers. Players will not lose pity to a random S-Class standard character.
Soft pity at 60 pulls on Arc banners: Arc banners (Scarborough Fair) pity is separate from character banners, with a 25 percent weighted roll for the featured Arc at soft pity.
Hunter Level gate: gacha pulls are gated behind Hunter Level progression, so new players should level the Hunter track ahead of a limited banner.
Currency farming: the Currency Farming Guide covers how to stockpile pulls from Circle BountyRiftcrystal Miningand daily Anomaly Commissions.
Free pre-launch currency: the Hethereau Residents Guide eventpre-registration rewardsand social media milestones collectively hand out several thousand pulls' worth of currency at no cost.
Every playable Esper in Neverness to Everness operates under the same Esper Cycle system, which governs element reactions, team swapping, and Ultimate generation. As a confirmed Lakshana Esper, Chaos operates under these mechanics:
Trio Reactions: pairing three different elements in a team enables Trio Reactions that deal bonus damage based on element combinations.
Elemental Reactions: each element pair produces a named elemental reaction (Scorch, Nova, Remora, Stain, and others) that interacts with combat system systems like stagger.
Parry and Stagger: the parry system and stagger system reward well-timed defense. These apply to every Esper regardless of rarity.
Awakening: duplicates of Chaos (Character) will feed the Awakening System for progressive kit upgrades.
Arc Compatibility: any launch Arc can be equipped on Chaos (Character) once released, per the standard arcs and weapons rules. The Arcs Database has the full pool of 42 launch Arcs.
Chaos (Character) is one of several upcoming Espers whose full kits have not been published. Community trackers group these characters together because they were each teased in the same promotional waves but lack official profiles.

Chaos becomes playable on the Phase 2 banner of Version 1.1, which runs June 24 to July 8, 2026 (UTC+8). His full profile, including rarity, element, Arc compatibility, and combat kit, was revealed during the Version 1.1 Special Program on May 23, 2026.
Chaos's combat kit was revealed during the May 23, 2026 Version 1.1 Special Program. His Esper Abilities summon fog across the battlefield and create teleport points that he uses to reposition during combat. His basic and skill attacks build Crime charges, which he then spends through dedicated finisher attacks for high single-target damage. The kit rewards aggressive play that keeps Crime charges constantly cycling rather than banking them for a single burst.
Chaos is the first male Esper that players can move into the Bond / Move-In system, expanding the cohabitation feature that previously only supported female Espers. Male and female roommates cannot coexist in the same residence at the same time, so players must choose between male and female roommates per house.
Chaos received a model update during Version 1.1 as part of a wider character-model refresh that also included Iroi and Zankoku. The update arrives alongside his banner debut on June 24, 2026.
