Overview
Psyche is one of the six Esper elements in Neverness to Everness. It is represented by a light blue color and is rooted in mental and psychic forces. Psyche sits between Chaos and Lakshana on the Esper Cycle wheel, giving it access to two duo reactions and one trio reaction that cover burst damage, damage amplification, and break meter reduction.
In combat, Psyche characters deal Psyche-type damage and can trigger Cognito damage through specific reaction mechanics. The element's identity leans toward defensive utility and team support, with its current roster focused on survivability, damage redirection, and team-wide buffs rather than raw offensive output.
The six elements in the Esper Cycle are arranged in a fixed order: Cosmos, Anima, Incantation, Chaos, Psyche, and Lakshana. Each adjacent pair on the wheel produces a unique duo reaction when their Esper attacks are chained in sequence.
Psyche Characters
The current Psyche roster includes two confirmed playable characters. Both occupy support-oriented roles, making Psyche a team-focused element rather than a primary damage dealer.

Character | Rarity | Arc Type | Role | Nova Enhancement |
|---|---|---|---|---|
S-Class | Bose | Survival, DMG Redirection | Drains 10% of Fadia's base Max HP from the target at 5% efficiency when the Nova state ends (capped at 50% of her Max HP) | |
A-Class | Solid | Buff, DMG Boost | Drains 8% of Haniel's base ATK from the target at 200% efficiency when the Nova state ends, redistributing it to all team members' ATK (capped at 16% of her base ATK or 20% of the enemy's initial ATK) |
Fadia is the Psyche element's anchor character. She carries a large cross-shield and specializes in keeping her team alive by redirecting damage onto herself. Her passive, All Eyes on Me, redirects 50% of ally damage to Fadia when her HP exceeds 1, and she distributes incoming damage among allies when her HP reaches 1. Her skill, Existence, inflicts Destructive Experience on the highest Max HP enemy, forcing that target to share 300% of the damage Fadia takes (capped at 8% of the target's Max HP per tick). Her ultimate, Agony to Euphoria, enters the Lilith state, dealing six instances of Cognito damage while restoring 15% HP. Her second passive, Denial and Plunder, increases the entire team's Max HP by 10% while she is on the field.
Haniel serves as a dedicated support character with strong ATK buffing. She works as a delivery courier for Sterry Express and moonlights as a social media content creator. In combat, she deploys Hootie, a portable speaker that grants team ATK bonuses based on Haniel's base ATK. As the team attacks, Hootie accumulates stacks that trigger Ensemble effects, dealing additional Psyche damage. Her ultimate, A Melody Named Haniel, activates the Paranormal Ace state, enhancing Ensemble effects and providing additional team ATK buffs while pausing Hootie's duration timer. Her passive, It's Bond!, grants Plot Armor stacks through Ensemble triggers that increase her Paranormal Cannon ricochet capacity up to five stacks.
Duo Reactions
Psyche participates in two duo reactions through its adjacent positions on the Esper Cycle. When a character triggers an Esper attack of one element and then chains into an adjacent element's Esper attack, the duo reaction fires automatically. Each reaction has a distinct combat purpose.
Nova (Chaos + Psyche)
Nova is the duo reaction triggered by chaining Chaos and Psyche Esper attacks in sequence. It marks the target and causes a large burst of Cognito damage after 5 seconds. Nova functions as a delayed payoff mechanic: you set up the mark, continue your rotation, and let the burst land while the rest of the team is already executing their next actions.
The delayed nature of Nova makes it particularly effective in sustained combat encounters where the team can keep pressure on the target during the 5-second window. Because the damage is Cognito-type rather than elemental, it bypasses certain elemental resistance mechanics.
Each Psyche character enhances Nova differently through their passive abilities. Fadia's Furnace of Guilt drains a percentage of her base Max HP from the target when the Nova state ends, tying her survivability scaling into reaction damage. Haniel's It's Friendship! drains a percentage of her base ATK from the target when Nova ends and redistributes it to all team members, turning the reaction into both a damage event and a team-wide ATK buff.
Stain (Psyche + Lakshana)
Stain is the duo reaction triggered by chaining Psyche and Lakshana Esper attacks. It applies a debuff to the target that increases all Psyche and Lakshana damage taken by 50% for 12 seconds. Unlike Nova's burst damage approach, Stain focuses on amplifying sustained damage output over a longer window.
The 12-second duration of Stain is one of the longer debuff windows among duo reactions, giving teams ample time to capitalize on the damage increase. Because it boosts both Psyche and Lakshana damage, teams that pair characters from both elements benefit doubly from the reaction. Stain is especially valuable in longer fights like boss encounters and Encroachment challenges where extended damage windows matter more than quick bursts.
Trio Reactions
Trio reactions occur when two different duo reactions overlap on the same target simultaneously. They represent the most advanced layer of the Esper Cycle system and require careful team composition and rotation planning to trigger consistently.
Discord (Scorch + Nova)
Discord is the trio reaction that activates when a target is affected by both Scorch (Incantation + Chaos) and Nova (Chaos + Psyche) at the same time. Discord reduces a percentage of the target's break meter, making it a critical tool for breaking through enemy defenses in high-difficulty content.
Triggering Discord requires three elements in the team: Incantation, Chaos, and Psyche. The Incantation and Chaos characters set up Scorch (a damage-over-time effect lasting 15 seconds), while the Chaos and Psyche characters trigger Nova. Because Chaos participates in both Scorch and Nova, a single Chaos character can serve as the bridge between the two duo reactions. This means Discord teams need a minimum of three characters covering three elements, leaving one flexible team slot.
Break meter reduction is particularly important against shielded enemies and bosses with tough defensive phases. Discord gives teams a reliable way to accelerate the break process without relying solely on raw damage, which makes it valuable in Encroachment zones and Anomaly Boss encounters where breaking the enemy's meter opens extended damage windows.
Team Building With Psyche
Building a team around Psyche characters involves choosing which reactions to prioritize. The element's two duo reactions and one trio reaction each pull the team composition in different directions.
Nova-Focused Teams
A Nova-focused composition pairs a Psyche character with a Chaos character to trigger the delayed Cognito burst. Strong Chaos partners include Lacrimosa, whose damage-over-time abilities can keep pressure on the target during Nova's 5-second delay. Fadia works well in this setup because her survivability ensures the team stays healthy while waiting for the burst to land. Haniel provides an alternative approach, converting the Nova payoff into a team ATK buff that amplifies follow-up damage.
Stain-Focused Teams
Stain teams combine Psyche and Lakshana characters to exploit the 50% damage amplification window. Because the debuff lasts 12 seconds and boosts both elements, the ideal roster loads up on Psyche and Lakshana damage dealers to maximize the multiplier. Characters like Hathor (Lakshana) pair naturally with either Fadia or Haniel to maintain the Stain debuff across rotations.
Discord Teams
Discord compositions require at least three elements: Incantation, Chaos, and Psyche. The Chaos character is the linchpin because it contributes to both Scorch and Nova. A typical Discord team might run Adler (Incantation) with Lacrimosa (Chaos) and Fadia (Psyche), leaving the fourth slot free for a Lakshana or Cosmos character to cover additional reactions or provide healing. The payoff is significant: Scorch deals damage over time, Nova delivers burst damage, and Discord strips the break meter, creating a layered offensive that handles both sustained and burst phases.
General Tips
Fadia's damage redirection makes her a strong pick for content where the team takes heavy hits. Pair her with fragile but high-damage characters who benefit from the safety net.
Haniel's ATK buffs scale with her own base ATK, so investing in ATK stats on Haniel directly increases her team support value.
Nova's 5-second delay rewards teams that maintain continuous pressure rather than relying on quick-swap burst rotations.
Stain's 12-second window is forgiving enough to fit two full character rotations, making it easier to trigger than more timing-sensitive reactions.
Discord teams sacrifice a team slot for a third element, but the break meter reduction can save significant time in boss fights.
Reaction Summary
