Overview
Unheard Shores is one of the four major districts of Hethereau in Neverness to Everness. Officially described as "the ultimate getaway for locals in the know," the district is defined by its jaw-dropping natural beauty, coastal scenery, and a character quite distinct from the other urban-oriented districts. Where New Herland District is a wealth-soaked hub of skyscrapers and Miguel District boasts curated tourist attractions, Unheard Shores provides raw, untamed landscapes along the coastline of Hethereau.
Unheard Shores has been part of Hethereau since the earliest test phases. It was available as one of the two explorable districts (alongside Bridge Crossing) during the Chinese CBT in November 2024. This makes it one of the most thoroughly tested areas in the game, having been refined across multiple development phases.
Geography and Terrain
The district is dominated by rugged mountains that rise from the coastline, creating dramatic elevation changes and cliff faces. The terrain is substantially more challenging to navigate than the flat streets of Bridge Crossing or the groomed parks of Miguel District. Rocky outcroppings, coastal trails, and steep paths reward players who enjoy exploration-focused traversal using climbing, wall-running, and gliding from the traversal system.
The coastal sections feature beaches, rocky shorelines, and areas where the ocean meets the mountains. Characters can swim in the water surrounding the district. The elevation provided by Unheard Shores' mountains offers some of the best vantage points in the entire city, with panoramic views of Hethereau's skyline visible in the distance.
The Orichalcos Imaginist
The district's most iconic landmark is the Orichalcos Imaginist, a dazzling concert venue described in official materials as the place where "chart-topping stars light up the stage with epic concerts." The venue is architecturally striking, designed to blend with the natural landscape while housing a world-class performance space.
The presence of a major concert venue in an otherwise nature-focused district creates an interesting cultural contrast. The Orichalcos Imaginist draws crowds from across Hethereau, bringing bursts of energy and activity to an area that is otherwise defined by its tranquility. In-game events and performances may be tied to the game's seasonal content cycle.
The Sea Train
Unheard Shores features a sea train that runs along the coastline. According to official descriptions, visitors can "hop aboard" the sea train "with whistle blaring and seagulls soaring," making it both a practical transportation method and a scenic experience. The rail line provides a unique traversal option that lets players ride along the coast, watching the landscape pass by without needing to navigate the terrain manually.
The sea train passes through tunnels carved into the mountainside, across bridges spanning coastal inlets, and along cliff edges with ocean views. Players can board and disembark at stations throughout the district, making it useful for reaching different parts of Unheard Shores.
Exploration and Activities
Unheard Shores is the most exploration-heavy district in Hethereau. The rugged terrain hides caves, overlooks, hidden paths, and environmental puzzles that reward thorough exploration. The district appeals to players who enjoy the discovery aspect of open-world games. Characters with special traversal abilities, such as Nanally's anti-gravity movement, can reach particularly remote areas more easily.
The natural environment supports gameplay activities like fishing, which can be enjoyed in both solo and multiplayer contexts. As a coastal area, Unheard Shores is a prime fishing destination. Other social activities available across Hethereau can also be enjoyed here in a more scenic setting.
Anomaly Activity
The wild, isolated nature of Unheard Shores makes it a hotspot for certain types of Anomalies. Supernatural disturbances in this district tend to feel more primal and otherworldly compared to the urban Anomalies encountered in New Herland or Bridge Crossing. The mountains and coastline can warp in unsettling ways during active Anomaly phases, with geological impossibilities and reality distortions that turn the district's natural beauty into something alien. The Bureau of Anomaly Control dispatches teams to investigate anomalous events in the district as part of the game's story and side quests.
Atmosphere and Visuals
Unheard Shores benefits significantly from the game's Unreal Engine 5 rendering. The district showcases particularly dramatic lighting effects, with sunset and sunrise casting long shadows through the mountain passes and lighting up the ocean surface. The game's dynamic weather system and day-night cycle are especially impactful here, creating varied atmospheric conditions from clear coastal mornings to moody, fog-shrouded nights.
The district's mood shifts significantly between day and night. During the day, it feels open and inviting, suitable for hiking, sightseeing, and relaxation. At night, the isolation becomes more pronounced, the mountains cast deep shadows, and the sound of the ocean takes on a more ominous quality.
