Overview
Failing You, Heavy in My Heart is an A-Class Arc in Neverness to Everness with a unique team support mechanic called Spider Knowledge. Unlike most DPS-oriented Arcs, this Arc is designed to buff the entire team's ATK through a stack-and-consume system. The wielder builds stacks by landing Basic Attacks, then consumes all stacks when using their Ultimate to grant a team-wide ATK bonus.
The stack-and-consume mechanic rewards players who weave Basic Attacks into their rotation before using their Ultimate at the optimal moment. Consuming all 8 stacks at once triggers a bonus ATK increase on top of the per-stack bonus, creating a meaningful incentive to be patient and build full stacks before spending them.
Lore
"When you see red light in your teacher's eyes, that usually means you're about to fail the class."
The flavor text humorously references a strict teacher with glowing red eyes, likely an inhuman or supernatural instructor whose displeasure manifests physically. The "Spider Knowledge" passive name and the teacher reference together paint a picture of a spider-like mentor figure who imparts power through demanding instruction. The red-eyed teacher imagery adds a playful horror element to the Arc's identity.
Passive Effect: Spider Knowledge
The wielder gains 1 stack of Spider Knowledge for each Basic Attack that connects, up to a maximum of 8 stacks. When the wielder uses their Ultimate, all Spider Knowledge stacks are consumed. Each consumed stack increases the entire team's ATK for 10 seconds. If all 8 stacks are consumed at once, an additional ATK bonus is granted on top of the per-stack values.
Level | ATK Per Stack | Extra at 8 Stacks | Max Total (8 Stacks) |
|---|---|---|---|
L1 | +1.00% | +2.00% | +10.00% |
L2 | +1.15% | +2.30% | +11.50% |
L3 | +1.30% | +2.60% | +13.00% |
L4 | +1.45% | +2.90% | +14.50% |
L5 | +1.60% | +3.20% | +16.00% |
At L5, consuming all 8 stacks provides a total of +16.00% ATK to the entire team for 10 seconds. This breaks down as 8 stacks at +1.60% each (totaling +12.80%) plus the +3.20% bonus for consuming a full set. The team-wide nature of the buff means it multiplies in value based on how many team members can deal damage during the 10-second window.
Recommended Characters
Failing You, Heavy in My Heart works best on characters who naturally weave Basic Attacks into their rotation before using their Ultimate.
Support/sub-DPS characters: Characters who cycle in briefly to land a string of Basic Attacks before using their Ultimate make ideal carriers. The team-wide ATK buff benefits the main DPS who takes the field after the Ultimate is cast.
Nanally: Her fast Basic Attack chains can build 8 stacks quickly, and using her Ultimate to consume them buffs the rest of the team.
Characters with fast attack speed: Any character with rapid Basic Attack animations can reach 8 stacks faster, reducing the downtime before the Ultimate consumption. Slow attackers take longer to build stacks, which may not align well with the team's damage windows.
How to Obtain
Failing You, Heavy in My Heart is available through the standard gacha acquisition methods for A-Class Arcs:
Miracle Box tiles: A-Class Arcs appear on Miracle Box tiles within the gacha board.
10-pull pity: Guaranteed A-Class or higher item within every 10 pulls.
Gameplay and shop currency: Available through in-game shops and reward tracks.
Strategy Tips
Always aim to build all 8 stacks before using the Ultimate. The bonus for consuming a full set of 8 stacks is significant. Using the Ultimate with fewer stacks wastes potential ATK for the team.
Time the Ultimate so that your main DPS is ready to capitalize on the 10-second ATK buff window. Use the Esper Cycle to swap to your primary damage dealer immediately after the Ultimate consumption.
In boss fights with specific damage windows (such as stagger phases), pre-build stacks during the downtime, then consume them with the Ultimate right before the boss becomes vulnerable. This maximizes the team's burst damage.
Pair with teammates who have high ATK scaling to maximize the percentage-based buff. A +16% team ATK buff at L5 provides more absolute value when applied to characters with higher base ATK.
The 10-second buff duration is relatively short. Plan your rotation so that the highest-damage abilities from other team members are used within that window.
