Mozi is the second of the Three Sages of Jixia Academy and arguably the most consequential figure in Primaera's mechanical history. According to the official Honor of Kings lore portal, Mozi was originally a youth named Mo di who spent 30 years exploring the Jixia region and studying its forgotten machinery. Through that study he invented what became known as Mohist Machinery, a tradition of engineering that fuses ancient energy and physical craftsmanship. He is also credited as the architect of the city of Chang'an, which he built atop the ancient, mysterious Mecharium structure beneath the Central Plains.
Mozi's personal story begins as Mo di, a young scholar with no official title who arrived at Jixia and devoted himself to studying the region's dormant machinery. Per the lore portal, he spent three decades mapping, testing, and eventually understanding the principles that would become Mohist Machinery. His breakthroughs earned him recognition from Fuzi and the academy community, and he was eventually canonized as one of the Three Sages of Jixia, taking on the honorific name Mozi. The Mozi Arena within Jixia bears his name and is used as a venue for martial trials and entrance tests.
Mohist Machinery is the engineering tradition Mozi founded. It draws on the ancient machines he excavated in the Jixia region and the energy principles of the Flow. In practice, Mohist Machinery manifests as devices that combine physical components, such as gears, springs, and cables, with Flow-infused cores that power them. Examples include the mechanical defenders and transportation networks of Chang'an, the automated puzzles found in Jixia Academy, and various constructs that players encounter across the open world. The tradition is specifically contrasted with the more mystical approaches of the other Sages: where Fuzi teaches wisdom and Zhuangzi meditates on reality, Mozi builds.
Mozi's greatest public project is Chang'an. According to the Honor of Kings: World lore portal's region page, Chang'an was built atop the mysterious Mecharium, an ancient underground structure whose original builders remain a mystery. When Mozi discovered the Mecharium's potential, he recognized it as the foundation for a great city. He designed mechanical systems that tapped the Mecharium's ancient energy to power the city's defenses, transportation networks, and public utilities, producing a city unlike any other on the continent. The city is currently governed by the Wu Clan and functions as the primary hub for commerce and culture on Primaera. See the Chang'an page for the full city overview.
Players encounter Mozi through Jixia Academy quests and through questlines set in and around Chang'an. His perspective provides the player with a concrete, engineering-minded counterweight to the more abstract teachings of Fuzi and Zhuangzi, and his mechanical creations are often the point at which ancient lore and current gameplay systems intersect. The mysteries of the Mecharium in particular remain central to Chang'an's narrative arc and are not fully resolved in the launch content.
