Diqun is one of the most consequential antagonistic figures in Honor of Kings: World's ancient history. According to the official Honor of Kings lore portal, Diqun was an ancient god who led a faction that opposed Nuwa's decision to close a polluted Sun Tower. That dispute escalated into the War of the Gods, during which Diqun was killed. However, he secretly preserved a fragment of the Ark Core, and has since been revived as a consciousness without a body. His central motivation in the present era is to reclaim the full Ark Core and use it to reshape his physical form.
At the point where the Sun Towers began to show signs of pollution, Nuwa judged that the safest course was to close one of the compromised towers to prevent further damage. Per the lore portal, Diqun led a faction of gods who opposed this decision. The specific reasons for his opposition are not fully disclosed in public lore materials, but the stakes were high enough that this single disagreement triggered the War of the Gods, an event that permanently broke the ancient order.
Diqun was killed during the War of the Gods. Before his death, however, he managed to secretly preserve a fragment of the Ark Core. This fragment was enough to keep his consciousness intact after his physical form was destroyed. The lore portal is explicit that he was "revived with consciousness only," meaning he cannot move on his own and cannot directly interact with the physical world in the way a fully embodied being could. He needs the full Ark Core to reshape his body and re-enter the world as a physical actor.
Diqun's motivation drives multiple main story arcs. As a consciousness without a body, he is functionally immortal but also profoundly limited. His single objective is to recover the full Heart of the Universe and use it to remake his physical form. This puts him in direct opposition to any faction that wants to leave the Ark sealed, including Jixia Academy and its allies, and it puts him in indirect competition with figures like Donghuang, who has his own ambitions tied to the Ark and the Primordial Flow.
Diqun's story is used in the lore portal to explain several of Primaera's current conditions. The pollution of the Sun Towers that he originally defended against closing is part of what contributed to the onset of The Wilting. His revival as a consciousness means that the War of the Gods is not as fully settled as it appeared, and agents, cults, and corrupted beings loyal to him can still affect events even though he himself cannot physically appear. He is therefore the archetype of a long-game antagonist whose actual presence in the story is filtered through proxies and influences rather than direct confrontation, at least until the Ark Core question is resolved.
