Grand Inquisitor

Created Grand Inquisitor page with the role definition, the qualified same-Keeper statement and the field loadout from official captures
The Grand Inquisitor is the player character of Graveyard Keeper 2. The store description opens on the line that you are the Grand Inquisitor now, and the role is the hinge the whole sequel turns on: the same person buries the dead, runs the factory, rebuilds the settlement and leads the army.
Aspect | What is confirmed | |
|---|---|---|
Title | Grand Inquisitor. The June 2026 developer log also uses Lord Inquisitor and simply the Graveyard Keeper for the same character | |
Brief | Restore [[the-town | The Town]] and lead an undead army into battle to save the realm from a zombie apocalypse |
Combat role | Fights on the line rather than commanding from behind it, sword in hand | |
Economic role | Runs [[the-graveyard | the graveyard]], the workshop and the rebuild |
Playable identity | The studio says the sequel keeps the same Keeper, then immediately qualifies it |
The September 2026 developer log addressed the continuity question directly. The studio wrote that they are keeping the same Keeper, then added that it is not exactly the same Keeper, and pointed players who had played the original game's Stranger Sins expansion toward the right idea. They did not elaborate further. Eight years have passed in the world of the series since the first game, and the developers say the world kept moving in its own direction without its Keeper, to nobody's benefit. How the character's identity resolves is deliberately held back as a story beat. More of that framing is on Story and Setting.
The published combat screenshot is the clearest look at the character in play. The Inquisitor appears in a helmet and armour, on foot, carrying a sword, with a green health bar above them. Armoured undead troops fight alongside, each carrying their own bar. A standard planted on the paving projects a circular radius across the ground, with a glowing device beside it that reads as a rally or summon point. The lower left of the screen holds a movement or formation widget and a single equipped weapon slot showing the sword.
Official written copy does not name the Inquisitor's weapon. The sword is an identification from that screenshot, and the store description's own phrasing for the combat brief is to craft powerful armour and weapons, arm and train your not-so-smart troops, and slash your way to victory.
One of the two pre-order bonuses is an exclusive outfit for the player character, framed on the storefronts as an outfit worthy of the new Grand Inquisitor. The studio has said the outfit a player receives depends on the platform they pre-order on, but no storefront has named or shown a specific version. Details are on Editions and Pre-Orders.
