Added the quest route, requirements, and encounter steps.
The Dreamer's Nightmare takes the Hero through the Sleeper Temple in Chapter 5. Defeat five undead Orc Shamans, collect their gemstones and the Strange Sword, then bring them to Xardas. Save and stock healing, mana recovery, summons, and undead-damaging spells before entering.
In the first chamber, prioritize the Skeleton Mage so it cannot keep summoning. Take the Sketch of the Temple from the altar in the room to the left near the fallen pillar. The optional rotating-statue room reveals the first door pattern. Set the right statue toward the pillar between the middle and left statues, the middle toward the pillar between the entrance and right statue, and the left toward the nearby entrance pillar. Return to the first room and use the wheels to open the door.
Shaman | Gemstone | Route |
|---|---|---|
Varrag Hashor | Worldcleaver | Shoot the green switch above the door in the second room and follow the hall. Pillars provide cover during the fight. |
Varrag Kasorg | Lightbringer | Enter the underground opening in the second room and follow the left path. At the rotating-floor puzzle, move the empty tile toward the entrance and match the patterns to summon him. Clear Lesser Demons when they appear. |
Varrag Unhilqt | Timesplinter | Recover the Orc Lever, activate the moving platforms, and shoot the red orb above his tomb door. Loot Chain Lightning as well as the gemstone. |
Varrag Arushat | Banstone | Solve the spike and blood puzzles, lower the lava, and operate the gate wheels. Loot Breath of Death after the fight. |
Varrag Ruuushk | Fiendeye | Beyond the purple doorway in the northern section, defeat three Demon Lords to extend the bridge. Take the Strange Sword after defeating the Shaman. |
For Unhilqt's route, enter the left doorway and drop through the floor opening. Pull the right lever in the first room to open the route. In the next room, the right lever opens the potion cage; the left releases a Skeleton. Continue downstairs past the High Temple Guard and search the middle of the three chests for the Orc Lever.
Return by the stairs and gate. Insert the lever into the middle platform mechanism, then activate the left lever followed by the middle lever. Jump onto the platforms when they reach a usable height. Shoot the red orb above the sealed door to reach Unhilqt.
Beyond Unhilqt, the red barrier requires both side rooms. In the left room, shoot the red orb before entering to disable the spikes. At the far end, turn and shoot the second orb, then quickly pull the lever behind the opened gate.
Blood fountain step | Input |
|---|---|
Start | Shoot the orb above the entrance and pull the lever. |
Fill left vessel | Turn the left device clockwise once. |
Fill right vessel | Turn the far-right device clockwise twice and wait for both vessels to fill. |
Redirect the flow | Turn the left device clockwise once, the right device counterclockwise once, then the middle device clockwise once. |
Use the new turning device in the barrier room and defeat the Fire Demon Lord to remove the barrier.
At the next intersection, take the left doorway. In the cave with bridges, drop right and climb toward the Lava Machine. Cross its narrow bridge and push the large post to rotate the machine and lower the lava.
Cross back, turn left, and fight along the walkway. At the end, take the stairs down, follow the curving hall, and climb through the wall opening at the fork. Leave the small wheel for now. Turn left upstairs, defeat the guard, and operate the larger wheel on the right first. Return to the small wheel and open the remaining gates. Cross the long bridge beyond to Arushat.
For Ruuushk, return through the purple doorway after the blood-puzzle area. Clear the three Demon Lords in the adjacent rooms to unlock the bridge. Summons can create space in these small arenas. Wait for the bridge to extend, cross, and keep close to the Shaman to limit his ranged attacks.
Collect all five gemstones and the Strange Sword before leaving. Xardas identifies the sword as Uriziel, completing the quest for 2,000 XP and starting its charging quest.
