Revision 1

A Roof Over My Head is Gorn's Chapter 1 quest for obtaining a hut in the New Camp. It requires defeating Shrike without killing him, then reporting the change of occupant to Gorn.

Find the hut

Inside the New Camp cavern, look for Gorn on the right side when entering. Ask about somewhere to stay. He points to Shrike's hut near the cavern entrance, close to Baal Kagan's position.

Defeat and spare Shrike

Prepare for a melee fight before challenging Shrike. One-Handed training from Scatty improves the Hero's options. Shrike dismisses the request in conversation, so draw a weapon and knock him unconscious.

Loot him while he is down if his equipment is wanted, then allow him to stand up. Speak to him again and ask whether he has had enough. He gives up the hut. Killing him instead fails the quest and loses the 200 XP completion reward.

Claim the home

Report to Gorn after Shrike leaves. The completed quest grants 200 XP, use of the hut's bed, and the storage chest inside. Shrike's equipment includes a Sting Mace and Rider's Bow if taken during the fight.

The hut provides a reliable resting stop near New Camp admission tasks such as Canvassing Customers and A Piece of the Pie. A player pursuing the no-sleep achievement should claim the quest reward without using the bed.
