11Dietrich Gregor Lamine is one of the four Heroes of Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and the lead of the Lion route. Nintendo introduces him as a swordsman ever in search of a stronger opponent, attacked by an enormous monster while sailing a stormy sea and washed ashore in the foreign land of Dagda. Between battling bandits and beasts he learns of the Heroic Games, and he enters to slake his thirst for battle. His own line on the matter runs: "It is imperative that I face it again. I must cull it with this blade."22He is the one Hero confirmed by name to carry a Hero's Relic, the Answerer, and the one whose Blaze Art the Direct describes on camera as a movement tool rather than an attack. His route runs five years before the collapse that opens the game, and Eshmel can travel back into it; see Routes.44Profile66FieldDetailFull nameDietrich Gregor LamineAgeUnknownHomelandFódlan, the landmass across the Lir Sea from DagdaStarting classReported as Commoner (see Classes)FactionHouse LamineRouteLionBlaze ArtsMoving Shadow, Stifling Shadow, Umbra CalamityPersonal weaponAnswerer, a swordFamilyAn unnamed younger sisterEnglish voiceXander MobusJapanese voiceSatoshi Hino88Story1010Dietrich is a foreigner in Dagda. He comes from Fódlan, the landmass across the Lir Sea, and reaches the continent by shipwreck after a vast sea creature attacks the vessel he is travelling on. His first reaction to the monster, in the game's own footage, is a single word: "Beautiful." Washed ashore with no plan and no local ties, he spends his early chapters fighting bandits and beasts before he hears about the tournament being held in Dagsion.1212He is tied to House Lamine, and in-game dialogue describes him as descended from one of the ten Elites. That framing is quoted from dialogue rather than published profile copy, so it is worth treating as provisional. The same dialogue explains the sword he carries: "It is the legacy of my forebears passed to me in Fódlan. A blade to smite the gods."1414Once in Dagsion he acquires a faction and a target. He names Bertrand on camera as an opponent he wants, greeting the arena's living legend with "I have burned to duel you, White-Maned Demon." Preview accounts describe his campaign as noticeably harder than Cai's and as a mostly linear run of battles, with fewer detours than the other routes.1616House Lamine1818Dietrich's clan in the Games is registered as House Lamine. Its members are the allies who attach themselves to him after the shipwreck.2020MemberNoteDietrichLeader; swordsman from Fódlan; wields the AnswererFabioFabio Gil Toro Álvarez; a travelling companion who is constantly at odds with EsmeraldaEsmeraldaA fisherman's daughter from a village on the Dagdan coast, saved by Dietrich from being offered to a sea creatureMikaelaMikaela Augustus; rounds out the clan's four registered members2323Preview material has Dietrich barely engaging with the running argument between his two loudest companions. See Factions for the wider list of clans entered in the tournament.2424The Answerer2626The Answerer is a sword described in-game as a fell blade, passed down his family line and handed to Dietrich in Fódlan. It is the only Hero's Relic confirmed by name in this game. The documented stat line is short: sword, rank E, range 1, twenty uses, with hands-on accounts noting maximum durability observed falling from 40 to 20 across a session.2828The blade grants Dietrich a Combat Art called Bloodletting, which the item description restricts to him alone. Preview accounts also describe a detection behaviour: the sword glows red and the spines along its edge flip out near objects or entities carrying aspects of Crests. On the world map that becomes a command called Answerer's Cry, which reveals foes lurking within range and turns up extra skirmishes.3030Bloodletting has published numbers.3232FieldDetailMight+3Hit+0Critical+20Avoid+0Range1Cost2 durabilityEffectEffective against dragons3434Its in-game description runs to two lines: "Very high Crit. Effective vs. dragons."3535The relic also attracts offers. Talimun asks his manager Ursula how much liquid cash the company can put up, hears her figure once taxes, wages and repairs to the Zlatan are accounted for, and then offers Dietrich 3.9 million gold for the sword. Ursula points out that this is three times their limit; Talimun answers that the difference comes out of his own pocket, because a man like that will not move unless they take on some risk. Nothing published says whether Dietrich sells.36+The relic also attracts offers. This wiki has not yet documented whether Dietrich sells.3737Combat Arts in this game cost weapon durability rather than a separate resource, and ordinary attacks cost nothing, so Bloodletting is a decision about how much of the relic to spend.3939Combat and Blaze Art4141Dietrich's Blaze Art is Moving Shadow. The Direct explains it as movement: "After moving, Dietrich's ink-black cloak can warp him to locations on the battlefield that aren't easily accessible." Hands-on accounts add the numbers. The warp reaches up to three tiles, passes through obstacles, and leaves him able to attack afterwards, which makes it a way onto rooftops, behind walls and past chokepoints rather than a damage tool. The cloak itself is a named item, the Ink-Black Wen.42+Dietrich's Blaze Art is Moving Shadow. The cloak itself is a named item, the Ink-Black Wen.4343The Ink-Black Wen is Dietrich's Drake's Treasure, the cursed object his Blaze Arts are attached to. Each of the four Heroes holds one, and the arts belong to the object rather than to the person carrying it; Drake's Treasures collects the four.4545Two more of his Blaze Arts now carry names.4747Blaze ArtWhat is knownMoving ShadowWarps him up to three tiles after moving, passes through obstacles, and leaves him able to attack afterwardsStifling ShadowName onlyUmbra CalamityName only48+Blaze ArtWhat is knownMoving ShadowWarps him up to three tiles after moving, passes through obstacles, and leaves him able to attack afterwardsStifling ShadowNo effect documented on this wiki as of September 2026Umbra CalamityNo effect documented on this wiki as of September 20264949Blaze Arts are paid for in health, and repeated use fills a gauge that grants a stat boost as it rises. Filling that gauge entirely triggers a burst that halves the unit's HP for the rest of the battle, so Moving Shadow is cheap to reach for once and expensive to lean on.5050Preview footage shows two further pieces of his kit. A personal ability named Murderous Intent activates in both the 2025 and 2026 trailers, and he appears in the Dreadnought class, an advanced sword line. Combat forecasts also show him carrying a Crest, one the game gives a second Dagdan name rendered as the Diadem of the Endless. No Crest effect data has been published for this game.51+Preview footage shows two further pieces of his kit. Preview accounts describe challenge letters arriving from named strong warriors; beating one teaches a special Combat Art, and he can then enhance that art and teach it to allies. Combined with Answerer's Cry on the overworld, his route pushes towards seeking fights out rather than waiting for the next scheduled match. See Between-Match Preparation for the shared weekly loop those activities sit inside.5656He also appears outside his own route. Preview material places him among the risen dead fought as tutorial bosses in the game's opening, in a different class from his playable one, and Bertrand recurs as a boss in both his route and Leda's. Anatolia is shown facing him in a cutscene, wielding a firearm.5959Preview footage also puts him on maps that are not his own. In the fight against the Thundercloud Knights he teams with Cai and Anatolia and brings only Fabio, while a version of the same battle with Mikaela present reads as a run through his own path instead. Which path each clip belongs to is read off who else is on the field rather than stated on screen.6161Lion Route in the Retail Game63+The route is entered through the Lion Obelisk. Its quest tab is the Dread Warrior Challenge, a one-on-one duel in which Dietrich fights a named warrior and wins a new Combat Art along with gold and Renown; which challenges appear depends on his Renown, and all of them close at the end of his first Part. Answerer's Cry is introduced in the fourth chapter and calls up skirmishes on the world map whose enemies drop Magic Echo Stones, and Teach Secrets, introduced in the seventh chapter, copies Combat Arts Dietrich has learned onto other units in exchange for those stones. Upgrading ten Combat Arts at Smyrnos's temple unlocks the Blacksmith class on this route.65+ChallengerLocationRewardBorgesNiraga Mine5,000 gold, 150 Renown, Hidden SoulrendAguirreRubess Forest6,000 gold, 150 Renown, Hidden BirdbaneSepenteCorroios Fort Ruins7,500 gold, 150 Renown, Hidden FlowformCamiloFort Hayn9,000 gold, 150 Renown, Hidden GiantsbaneIl-LaraDione Fort10,000 gold, 150 Renown, Hidden Windpierce; unlocks the Guardian classCabayeStoppered Shrine10,000 gold, 150 Renown, Hidden TwinbladeDamienAditi's Cave10,000 gold, 150 Renown, Hidden TruesnipeBerenguelaNemea Cavern11,000 gold, 150 Renown, Hidden EvilbreakOkoIapetus Cavern12,000 gold, 150 Renown, Hidden Bladerule; unlocks the Ranger class67+Dietrich also has the widest paralogue access of the four Heroes: eight of the nine, every one except his own. His paralogue, Sealed-Off Past, is given by Fabio near the arena on Theodora's and Leda's routes and is a ten-turn defence. Fabio, Esmeralda and Mikaela join automatically, and Yang Jie is the guaranteed recruit of the Lion route's recruitment tutorial. Completing the path carries Boost Combat Arts, Teach Secrets and Answerer's Cry into Part III.68+ChapterTitleMain battle1A Stranger Comes To DagdaBandits2Sacrifice and StrifeSea beasts led by Redears3The Grand MegalithAgainst Saint Katarina; the objective later changes to defeating Anatolia4Brute ForceQualifier against Benditz and the Thundercloud Knights5The Essence of a WarriorHannibal's Trial6Instinct and ReasonQualifier against Alexandra7Gazing at the Rose MoonQualifier against Nathan and Creek8Cetus the Sea TyrantCetus9The Legend of the White EggBattle at Kunlun, against Zenon10The Mediator of NuwaMain match against Anatolia11Twisted LoveMain match against Bertrand12Mars, Bringer of WarExhibition against Mars70+The eighth chapter is the one time Dietrich can sail in Part I. Cetus, the sea tyrant of the title, has to be tracked down with Answerer's Cry: it only surfaces at the Sea of Screams after the search has failed at Pasha Currents, Wandering Whirlpool and Eif Channel. The final chapter's exhibition is fought in two stages, the second a one-on-one between Dietrich and Mars.71+Notes6373Dietrich's listed likes are things he finds beautiful, sweet things, and his younger sister. Preview coverage of the Japanese profile notes the contrast in how he talks: a calm tone carrying aggressive language.6575Route listings give his Part I subtitle as "Dietrich, the Ravishing Shadow", and the advance soundtrack release includes a track titled "Shadow from Elsewhere" attached to him; see Soundtrack. Japanese renders his name ディートリヒ＝グレゴール＝ラミーヌ, Korean 디트리히 and Traditional Chinese 迪托利希.6777Related Pages6979The sword he carries has its own page at Answerer, and the wider relic category it belongs to is on Hero's Relics.
