11The Dagdan Empire is the largest and most powerful nation on the continent of Dagda and the setting for most of Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. It is a theocracy, introduced in Nintendo's own narration as a land at the peak of prosperity under the rule of the gods. Its capital is Dagsion, and three vassal kingdoms sit beneath it.2233Government4455Power sits with the gods rather than with a mortal dynasty. The current ruler is the Divine Sovereign Solel, god of the sun, who holds the throne as regent while the founding king sleeps. Solel opens the Heroic Games in person and pledges to grant one wish to whoever wins them.6677The temples and their servants are part of the machinery of the state rather than a body standing apart from it. Temple knights carry out imperial business: the man who arrives to tell Cai's father his sentence has come due is one of them, and the priesthood staffs the seven temples where ordinary citizens go to earn a divine blessing.8899History10101111The empire has stood for roughly 1,500 years. Nintendo's own wording is that it has prospered under the rule of gods for 1,500 years, while an in-game cutscene is reported to say fourteen centuries, so the founding year should not be treated as fixed. It was established by Dagda, the empire's first and founding king, after a run of major wars, and the land is said to have been entrusted to him by a goddess. Dagda later fell into slumber, and the Divine Sovereign has ruled in his place since.12121313In the year 1449 of the Dagdan Calendar, the empire staged the Heroic Games that the game's four Hero routes revolve around.14141515Vassal Kingdoms16161717Three countries answer to the empire.18181919KingdomPositionNotesSaramisSouthern end of the continentCapital Megaira. Fortuna keeps a temple of her own and a hidden chamber beneath it. Aurora, named as the daughter of the Divine Sovereign, is confined to her temple and forbidden contact with outsiders. On the mechanical side, Temple Blessings is where that relationship reaches the player.29293030Notable Locations31313232PlaceNotesDagsionThe imperial capital, built around a lake in the territory of Amalthea, with a population well over a million.CaelusHolds an annual Festival of Roses; the winner takes the title Rose of Caelus.
