11Crests are hereditary marks carried in the flesh and passed down bloodlines, and they return in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. What is new here is the second name the game gives them. On the continent of Dagda they are known as Bloodmarks, written 血印 in Japanese, and an individual mark is called a Diadem. Each Diadem is associated with a member of the Dagdan Pantheon rather than with a noble house.2233That naming layer is the part of the system pre-launch material is consistent about. Almost everything else is blank. No Crest effect has been published for this game, and this page says so plainly instead of borrowing figures from an earlier entry that shares the same Crest names.4455Bloodmarks and Diadems6677The Dagdan framing puts the gods at the centre of a system that used to run on bloodlines, and footage backs that up in one visible way. Each temple on Temple Row in the upper levels of Dagsion carries a Crest sigil on its wall matching the god served there: the temple of Kalla carries the Crest of Dominic, and Kalla herself is listed with the same mark. A sigil read as the Crest of Fraldarius sits beneath the statue of Dagda inside the arena, which would make it the founding king's, though that is one observation rather than a published statement.8899A handful of Diadem names have appeared in pre-launch listings, and two of those listings give the same bloodline two different Diadem names. The mapping is not reproduced here for that reason. Until a Diadem name is confirmed on screen, the Crest names below are the ones the game itself has shown.10101111Confirmed Bearers12121313Fifteen characters have been attached to a Crest ahead of launch. The Crest names are the long-standing ones; the Dagdan Diadem name for each is either unpublished or contested.14141515CharacterCrestHow It Was EstablishedCaiCrest of AubinListed as a bearer, and the sigil appears in white during his combat footageDietrichCrest of LamineListed as a bearer; his relic Answerer belongs to the same bloodline and its combat art is gated on the matching markLedaCrest of DominicListed as a bearer, and her combat forecast shows a Diadem beside her portraitUrsulaCrest of the BeastNamed in her combat forecast as the third of six entriesKallaCrest of DominicListed as a bearer, and the sigil appears on the wall of her templeEshmelCrest of NoaListed as a bearerAuroraCrest of AubinListed as a bearerEsmeraldaCrest of BlaiddydListed as a bearerNinaeCrest of GloucesterListed as a bearerFortunaCrest of GonerilListed as a bearerMarsCrest of DaphnelListed as a bearerCrednaCrest of NoaListed as a bearerJurahCrest of FraldariusListed as a bearerFiannaCrest of FraldariusListed as a bearerOrchelUnsettledTwo readings that have not been reconciled, covered below1616The Unsettled Cases17171818Orchel shows why the list above should be read as provisional. When she casts, the Crest of Gautier appears in her spell circle, and her combat forecast lists that Crest among her skills. Separately she tells Theodora that she carries a priest's mark, a line read by one account as the Crest of Noa. She does not point at anything when she says it, and her visible inventory holds no cursed weapon that would explain a borrowed mark. Both readings are in circulation and neither has been settled.19192020One uncited listing groups Theodora, Cai and Talimun under the Crest of Gautier as well. In each case the mark sits next to a cursed object rather than an inherited line: Cai's hand gem, Theodora's arm, Talimun's cursed sword. That grouping has no source of its own, so it is a pattern someone noticed rather than a rule.21212222How Crests Appear in Play23232424A Crest takes up a slot in the combat forecast, in the same list as class skills, weapon effects and buffs from a nearby ally. Ursula's forecast in one showcase ran to six entries with the Crest of the Beast third; Orchel's ran to three in one battle and five in a later one. Skills covers what else shows up there.25252626One visual detail has been noted repeatedly. Every sighting of the Crest of Gautier has been red and black, and it has turned up alongside cursed equipment and cursed objects, Lakshashi's Iron Fan among them, while other Crests have appeared white. Whether the colour separates an inherited mark from one a cursed item confers is a guess at this stage, and the account that raised it says as much. Cursed weapons and items also fill the Blaze Gauge, covered on Blaze Arts.27272828What Has Not Been Published29293030No Crest effect exists for this game. Not one. The listings that do show effects are showing figures carried over from earlier entries, and they label those columns with the earlier entries' names; the columns set aside for this game's own ability and blessing are empty. Nothing has been published about activation rates, about whether the major and minor split returns, or about Crest items. Hero's Relics is in the same state: what a matching Crest does for a relic wielder here has not been shown.31313232One low-confidence account adds two claims no other source repeats: that Diadem effects can be handed out temporarily as a reward for service at the temples on Temple Row, and that carrying a Diadem belonging to a god Dagda does not recognise gets its bearer shunned as an ill omen. Both are worth revisiting; neither is treated as established here. Temple Blessings covers the blessing system as it has actually been demonstrated.33333434Related Pages35353636For how a Crest sits among the other entries in a unit's forecast, see Combat System. The attacks a matching mark is said to gate on a relic are covered on Combat Arts, and the bearers themselves are indexed on List of Characters.
