Grandshelt
September 12, 2026 at 08:15 AM
Initial version (2026-09-12)
Grandshelt is the kingdom where Final Fantasy Resonance begins, known as the Kingdom of Knights. Its people live peaceful lives blessed by the power of crystals, and the kingdom watches over the Earth Crystal at a site called the Earth Shrine. Every named place in the game is collected at Locations.
Grandshelt fields both an order of knights and an airship squadron. Rain, the protagonist, is a knight of the kingdom skilled enough to have been entrusted with command of that squadron at a young age, and Lasswell, his childhood friend, serves as its deputy commander. Charlotte is a third Grandshelt knight, in active service and a peer of the other two, who appears early in the story. The kingdom has a king, rescued during the opening; he is unnamed in official material as of September 12, 2026.

The game's first act belongs to Grandshelt. The magical barrier protecting the Earth Shrine wanes, and a royal decree sends Rain to investigate the cause. He travels there with Lasswell, and in the shrine's innermost chamber the two meet a man clad in black armor whose power overwhelms them: the Earth Crystal is shattered in front of them, their airship is wrecked, and their comrades fall. When the pair return home they find Grandshelt itself under attack by the same man, named there as Veritas of the Dark, one of the Sworn Six of Paladia. They rescue the king, but suffer a second crushing defeat. Fina, the girl who appears from the shattered Earth Crystal, is met here, and the pursuit that follows sends the three out into the wider world. The full sequence is retold at Story and Setting.
The Earth Shrine is the site tied to the Earth Crystal and the destination of the royal decree that opens the game. Its protective barrier waned first, and the crystal was shattered in the innermost chamber. With the Earth Crystal gone, the Fire Crystal held by the Zoldaad Empire and the Ice Crystal said to rest in Mysidia are the first of the remaining crystals to be given a home. As of September 12, 2026 no official source for this game gives a total number of crystals.
As of September 12, 2026 Square Enix has not published a map of the kingdom or of the world around it, so where Grandshelt sits relative to Dilmagia, Olderion, Zoldaad and Mysidia is unknown, and the name of the world itself is unconfirmed in every official source for this game. Neither how much of the kingdom is playable nor whether the party can return to it after the opening has been stated as of that date. The free demo released on September 3, 2026 covers the opening through the end of Chapter 1, the chapter in which the Earth Shrine investigation plays out.
