Gil pays for weapons, armor, accessories, and items at shops. Watch for Gil Snappers while exploring: besides their battle rewards, they carry shells that can be stolen and sold.
Gil Snappers and shells
Enemy | Chapter | Where to Look |
|---|---|---|

Gil Snapper | 5 | |
King Gil Snapper | 7 | Kingdom of Pharm |
Use Steal to try for shell valuables. The Golden Shell and Large Golden Shell are rare steals from the Gil Snapper and King Gil Snapper respectively. Shells can be sold at shops.
Gil Snappers counter physical attacks. Ice attacks exploit their weakness and can help stagger them. After a Sweeping Stagger, Extra Phase attacks can help secure an Overkill. An Overkill multiplies the Gil reward by 1.3.
Abilities that support Gil farming
Vaan learns Double Gil at Mastery Rank 9 and Gil Toss at Mastery Rank 5. Double Gil doubles Gil earned from defeated enemies, while Gil Toss spends Gil on an attack.
Zidane gains Treasure Hunter at awakening level 3. On a successful Steal, Treasure Hunter selects a rare item. Brigand's Gloves increase the chance of Steal succeeding.
Buying equipment and supplies
Compare new shop gear with the pieces the party already owns before buying. Equipment covers compatible weapon and armor choices, while Consumables lists early recovery supplies.
