Consumables provide recovery, ailment cures, and other effects without changing equipped gear. Their restrictions differ: some work during a fight, while a Tent requires a save point or the field map. Key items belong to quests and are separate from these supplies.
Early recovery and utility items
Grandport Harbor sells the items in this table. Prices are for one item.
Item | Effect | Price |
|---|---|---|
Potion | 200 HP for one ally | 100 Gil |
Mist Potion | 200 HP for each ally | 500 Gil |
Phoenix Down | Revival with 25% HP | 200 Gil |
Antidote Herb | Poison removal | 100 Gil |
Eye Drops | Blind removal | 200 Gil |
Tent | Full HP and MP recovery at a save point or on the field map | 300 Gil |
Smoke Bomb | Escape from a battle that permits fleeing | 300 Gil |
A Potion and a Phoenix Down serve different purposes: use the former for an injured ally and the latter after a knockout. Mist Potion treats the party together, but it does not increase the amount restored to each individual ally.
Finding supplies early
The Earth Shrine has a Potion chest in front of its entrance and another containing three Potions in the next area to the northeast. A Phoenix Down is down the stairs to the east after entering the shrine.
In the Town of Mitra, a chest by the dock contains three Phoenix Downs. A Tent can be found inside the house beside the Chocobos in the Village of Kol.
Before a dungeon
Keep revival items separate from ordinary healing when planning supplies. A Tent can restore both HP and MP between fights at a permitted location, but it cannot replace emergency healing during a boss battle. Smoke Bombs are useful only when the encounter allows escape.
See Combat for battle preparation and turn order.
