Attributed the three role words in the details table to the Japanese, Korean and Chinese text
Cecil is one of the legacy Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance, announced on July 16, 2026. On the official character page he stands as this game's FINAL FANTASY IV representative.

Square Enix introduces him as the former captain of the Red Wings, the empire's airship fleet, which Japanese material places under the military nation of Baron. As a Vision he employs both light and dark elemental attacks, specified in Japanese material as physical techniques, and he can also defend and heal. Japanese material lists him as able to fill the attacker, defender, and healer roles, which makes him unusually versatile among the roster announced so far.
The three role words come from Square Enix's Japanese text, first in the July 16, 2026 announcement and again in a Japanese Vision video of August 13, 2026. The English profile says instead that he can also defend and heal.

Square Enix's general rules for legacy Visions apply to Cecil. Crystals of past FINAL FANTASY protagonists are obtained by visiting the Sanctums of Light erected around the world. A party member who equips his crystal can use his magic and abilities, and a stronger bond with the Vision unlocks more of them. Staggering every enemy in one turn lets the party trigger a Resonance, a Vision-specific special attack, and Square Enix says the special moves of the series' past protagonists are rendered in 3D graphics. Any Vision can also be awakened with limited magicite across three stages, unlocking higher-tier techniques and magic; see Vision Awakening.
As of October 11, 2026, Square Enix has not detailed Cecil's Resonance attack, his specific unlock conditions or a named ability list in official text.
