Accessibility and Language Support
August 26, 2026 at 05:31 AM
Added the published description for all twelve PlayStation 5 accessibility features, including Adjustable Difficulty and the main-story-and-main-characters limit on subtitles; restated Japanese and English voice audio as a stated product-information field and clarified that Korean is text only
Language support in FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE differs by platform: the console versions list five languages, while the PC and Xbox versions list eight. Voiced audio comes in English and Japanese, which Square Enix states outright as a two-entry field in its own product information. Accessibility information so far comes from two storefronts, with Steam tagging four accessibility categories and the PlayStation Store listing twelve features.
Platforms | Supported Languages | Full Audio |
|---|---|---|
Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 | Japanese, English, German, French, Spanish (5 languages) | English and Japanese |
PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X|S | Japanese, English, German, French, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean (8 languages) | English and Japanese |
Languages beyond English and Japanese are text-only. The three additional languages on PC and Xbox are Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean; they are absent from the console language matrix.
The Steam listing tags the game with four accessibility categories alongside its other platform features:
Custom Volume Controls
Adjustable Difficulty
Keyboard Only Option
Playable without Timed Input
In-game, difficulty comes in three selectable levels, Casual, Normal, and Expert, covered on the combat page.
The PlayStation Store lists twelve accessibility features for the PS5 version, each with its own published description. Entries marked Basic carry that qualifier on the listing itself. The Adjustable Difficulty entry describes reducing the overall challenge by picking an alternative pre-set difficulty level, which lines up with the three selectable levels named above even though the listing itself does not name them.
Feature | Notes |
|---|---|
Color Alternatives | You do not need to rely on understanding color to play, and important colors can be changed to make them easier to tell apart |
Visual Comfort | Basic; you can play without the camera movements and effects that might cause visual discomfort |
Volume Controls | You can turn down or mute individual audio volumes |
Subtitles | Basic; the game includes subtitles for the main story and main characters only |
Adjustable Difficulty | Basic; you can reduce the overall challenge by choosing an alternative pre-set difficulty level |
Tutorial Reminders | You can review gameplay tutorial information at any time |
Playable without Rapid Button Presses | You can play and navigate menus without pressing buttons rapidly or inside a time limit |
Playable without Simultaneous Presses | You can play and navigate menus without pressing or holding several buttons at once |
Playable without Motion Controls | You can play without using motion controls |
Playable without Touch Controls | You can play without using touch-based controls |
Playable without Controller Vibration | You can play without turning on controller vibration or haptic feedback |
Playable without Adaptive Trigger Effect | You can play without the adaptive resistance in the triggers turned on |
The same PlayStation Store listing marks offline play as enabled and power saver as supported, so the single-player campaign does not require a connection on PS5.
Square Enix's own specification table sets out the split, and it matches what the storefront lists. Console and PC do not get the same set.
Platform group | Languages |
|---|---|
Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 | Japanese, English, French, German, Spanish |
Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft Store on Windows | Japanese, English, French, German, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean |
Only English and Japanese have full voice acting. Square Enix's product information prints the voice languages as a plain field with two entries, Japanese and English, so the point no longer rests on reading an asterisk against a storefront language table. Every other supported language is text only, Korean included: it appears in the eight-language PC and Xbox set as subtitles and interface text, never as spoken dialogue.
Adjustable difficulty.
Keyboard-only option.
Playable without timed input.
Custom volume controls.
Full controller support, including DualSense controller support and the Steam Input API.
The playable-without-timed-input tag is worth noting for a turn-based game that leans on staggering enemies: it indicates no part of the game requires a reaction under a timer.
