FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE is scheduled to launch on October 22, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, spread across six storefronts. Square Enix revealed the game on June 9, 2026 during a Nintendo Direct presentation and opened pre-orders the same day.
Release Date
Every version launches on October 22, 2026, a Thursday. The lone wrinkle is the Steam release, which official Japanese materials date October 23, 2026, a Friday, in Japan Standard Time, while the US-facing Steam page shows October 22, 2026. Both dates describe the same unlock viewed from different time zones, so the difference is one of framing rather than schedule.
October 22 also happens to be the date FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS, the mobile game this title rebuilds, launched in Japan back in 2015. Asked whether the matching date was deliberate, the producer called it a coincidence.
Announcement
The reveal came during the Nintendo Direct broadcast of June 9, 2026, and Square Enix confirmed the date, platforms, and pricing in a press release issued the same day. The official Japanese site marked the occasion with the game's Direct segment, the announce trailer, a producer message video, and an official livestream special. Pre-orders went live across storefronts immediately, with digital pre-orders carrying bonus item packs.
Platforms and Storefronts
The game is single-player only on every platform. Physical editions exist for the Nintendo and PlayStation versions, while the Xbox and PC versions are digital only.
Platform | Storefront | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Nintendo Switch 2 | Nintendo eShop | Physical and digital releases |
Nintendo Switch | Nintendo eShop | Physical and digital releases |
PlayStation 5 | PlayStation Store | Physical and digital releases; PS5 only, with no PlayStation 4 version |
Xbox Series X|S | Microsoft Store | Digital only; listed as Optimized for Xbox Series X|S |
PC (Windows) | Steam | Digital only; Windows is the sole supported OS, and the build uses Denuvo Anti-tamper; dated October 23, 2026 in Japan time |
PC (Windows) | Microsoft Store on Windows | Digital only |
The Steam build lists full controller support and modest system requirements. Language support differs by platform: the console versions carry five languages, while the PC and Xbox versions carry eight. The accessibility and language support page lists the full matrix.

PEGI's in-game purchases descriptor, along with a purchases flag on the Xbox listing, reflects the deluxe item pack that Square Enix sells separately. The producer has said there is no DLC for Visions; every Vision is earned in-game.
