Falling Frontier is developed by Stutter Fox Studios and published by Hooded Horse.
Stutter Fox Studios is an independent game development studio based in Melbourne, Australia. It was founded in August 2019 by Todd D'Arcy, who serves as founder and lead developer. The studio's work is rooted in a passion for science fiction and for telling stories that explore the human element within science fiction settings.
Falling Frontier is the studio's debut title. The game won the award for Most Anticipated Indie Game of 2021. The studio began as a one-person project and has since grown into a small team: a full-time artist joined in early 2023, and by late 2025 the credits included a dedicated tech artist working on performance and visual consistency. It is also supported by a volunteer community manager.
Hooded Horse is the publisher for Falling Frontier. Based in Dallas, Texas, it specialises in strategy, simulation, and role-playing games, and has published a range of other strategy titles.
The soundtrack for Falling Frontier is composed by Scott Buckley, who has shaped the game's tone since the beginning of development. For the Might of Mars trailer he wrote a track built around a heavy, primal rhythm intended to represent the heartbeat of progress: at a distance it reads as the pulse of an entire society, while up close its industrial and metallic layers stand in for individual effort. The developer has described the piece as drawing on Sea Wall from the Blade Runner 2049 soundtrack for its balance of scale and intimacy.
