The Guild
The Heroes' Guild is in Bowerstone. It is currently desolate, a shell of what it once was. It is run by Humphry the Golden, a retired hero played by Matt King. The player goes here after the events in Briar Hill to train and learn about their heroic abilities.
Humphry
Humphry was once a celebrated hero of Albion. Now he is reclusive and jaded, hiding away in the near-empty Guild. A mysterious figure threatening Albion's existence forces him out of retirement. His relationship with the player is central to the early game: he is your mentor, but not a willing one.
A character spotlight from August 2023 described him as a "darker interpretation of the hero archetype." Matt King's performance leans into the comedy of an aging celebrity dragged back to work. The mockumentary-style trailer at Xbox Showcase 2024 was filmed like a documentary crew following him around.
Training
The Guild is where the player learns the basics of style weaving (the combat system). The Strength, Skill, and Will pillars are all introduced here. How much of the training is structured tutorial versus freeform practice has not been detailed.
In earlier games
The Heroes' Guild appeared in the original Fable as the training ground for all Heroes. It was destroyed between Fable and Fable 2 in the original timeline. In this reboot it exists again, which fits with Playground Games' statement that they are not beholden to the original games' chronology. See the Story article for how the reboot handles canon.
