Giants are a creature category in Fable (2027). The reboot's first confirmed giant is Dave, a gardener-turned-giant who becomes a major boss encounter. Whether other giants exist as a recurring enemy type or whether Dave is a singular, story-specific giant has not been publicly confirmed by Playground Games.
Dave is a spectacled gardener and self-described "vegetable enthusiast" who discovers a magical growth formula and accidentally transforms into a giant. The hero confronts him in a boss fight. Players can kill him or spare him; killing him leaves his corpse permanently in the world, with downstream reputation and property and economy consequences (nobody wants a house next to a dead giant).
Dave was first shown in the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase reveal trailer and again in the January 22, 2026 Developer Direct. He is voiced by Richard Ayoade. The dedicated Dave page covers his full boss encounter, branching outcomes, and scene context.
Playground Games has not committed to whether giants are a recurring race or a one-off story creature. Pre-launch footage focuses on Dave; no other giant has appeared in publicly released material. Only Dave has been named.
Albion already carries large enemies such as trolls, so a second giant would not need new framing, but none has been shown or named.
The Dave fight as shown in pre-release footage plays out on his farmland in the open world rather than in a walled-off arena, and emphasises positioning more than raw weapon damage. Specific giant attack patterns, weak points, or stagger thresholds have not been published. The style-weaving combat system allows fluid switching between melee weapons, ranged combat, and will and magic mid-fight, which the Dave encounter appears to encourage.
Richard Ayoade was named as Dave's voice actor when Playground Games published the full cast list at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026. The casting fits the reboot's broader pattern of pairing recognizable British comic actors with darker-than-expected fairytale beats. The studio has emphasized that the cast is British across the board, with regional accents intentionally preserved.
